5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Going Green September 7, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am a very green person to begin with so a lot of the chapters in this book were about subjects I was already familiar with. But I love it for the recipes and I think it would be a great book for anyone who's thinking about living a greener lifestyle. It's well-written and well-organized so you can green up your life one step at a time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great format, great info December 4, 2009
By CK
Format:Paperback
I've read several books with similar content and didn't think this book would say something I haven't heard already. Wrong! Micaela Preston's book is great. I love the format of "buy it" and "make it". Someday I'll have time to make my own cleaners and beauty products, but until then I have better choices on what I can buy. Here's an example of something I didn't know: most plastic shower curtains are toxic, releasing fumes into your bathroom that you breathe in. You can purchase safe shower curtains at IKEA -- one of only a few retailers to stop selling the toxic version. Check out this book. You'll be glad you did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally! An easy-to-use guide on green living. November 10, 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I like how Preston's book gathers the essentials and presents them in an easy to use format. I've read and clipped out many newspaper and magazine articles on this subject...if I could only find them. This book allows you to jump right to a specific topic and in minutes you are prepared to make wise choices at the grocery or department store. Even better, you may discover that you don't need to leave the house at all - for example, there are instructions on how to make your own cleaning supplies from inexpensive ingredients you may already have in your cabinets. I also appreciate the web links that steer you toward more info on any topic. This keeps the book to a reasonable size, and will make it more likely to be referenced again and again. My friends and family will find this book under the X-mas tree later in December!
