It MIGHT have highlighting, underlining, be missing a dust jacket, or SLIGHT water damage, but over-all itâ?TMs still a good book at a great price! This book is interesting, yet, due to it's age and academic slant, written in a somewhat archaic and pedantic style. Still, the average intelligent reader, with a passion for the study of human behavior, will find much to ponder in this tome. You will read about behavioral therapeutic strategies, including Wolpe's systematic desensitization strategies, and studies thereof, and more. The content is very mentally stimulating and very much supports the idea that people can learn to unlearn behavior. Meaning, as much of our behavior is "learned behavior" we can consciously use methods to un-learn behavior. One of the most fascinating things about Wolpe's work is that neurosis, or issues, around certain behaviors may not stem from a particular object, person, experience or action per se... but from something that is unconsciously associate to another thing in the mind of an individual. Practicing relaxation in the face of a trigger can help a person with a phobia or fear learn to desensitize themselves. Wolpe's work combines compassionate therapy with a logical, behavioral approach and may be very useful to persons seeking to modify (or unlearn) their own behavior(s).

A source to cite for the "SUD," "Subjective Units of Distress," measurement strategy for behavior therapy. Plus much more "from the source" BT material.
