About the Author

Malcolm Simon and John Reeves combine more than 50 years of coaching expertise in their newest coaching guide, Practice Games for Winning Soccer. Simon and Reeves are the editors of four other highly acclaimed Human Kinetics soccer books: Soccer Restart Plays, Select Soccer Drills, The Soccer Games Book, and The Coaches Collection of Soccer Drills.

Malcolm Simon is professor and director emeritus of physical education and athletics at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). He has coached soccer, basketball, tennis, and volleyball in college, camp, and YMCA settings since 1954. His teams include National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national champions and runners-up. Sixteen of his players have been named All-Americans and five have gone on to play professional soccer nationally and internationally. Upon his retirement in 1994, Simon was awarded the Allan R. Cullimore Medal for Distinguished Service by NJIT.

Twice the Conference Coach of the Year and twice the New Jersey College Coach of the Year, John Reeves achieved a remarkable 172-84-28 record in his 20 years as a collegiate soccer coach, leading his teams to three conference championships. He created and directed two extremely successful summer soccer schools, one at Drew University and one at the University of Rochester; both serve hundreds of youngsters each summer. A past president of the Intercollegiate Soccer Association of America (ISAA), Reeves is currently the director of athletics and physical education at Columbia University, where he earned his doctoral degree in 1983. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Simon and Reeves were inducted into the New Jersey Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1995.
