An audio "workbook" that will make a difference., February 13, 2001
This review is from: Practice Makes Practice: An Experiential Audio Workbook (Audio Cassette)
I am the author and reader of Practice Makes Practice. This one hour audio cassette contains three of my therapeutic exercises that have effectively helped my clients and workshop participants over the past 15 years to drastically change how they view themselves. My foundation message (as the title suggests) is that perfection is not an option; that we are by definition, imperfect humans. These exercises will take you into increased self awareness, guide you to identify the exact nature of self-criticsm, and give you an introductory experience (hopefully, a preview of what your future holds) with genuine self-compassion.
One of the things I like about this tape is that you can do the exercises more than once, and accomplish something different each time you do. Practice Makes Practice has been billed as an excellent companion to my book, The Self-Forgiveness Handbook. I think this is true, but please know that I have written and recorded this program to stand on its own. Use it with or without reading my books. And please let me know what you think. TR

One hour that will chang how you view yourself., September 4, 2001
This review is from: Practice Makes Practice: An Experiential Audio Workbook (Audio Cassette)
Practice Makes Practice (called an "audio workbook") is an excellent
companion to either of Thom's books, and it stands on its own. Rutledge is
an experienced psychotherapist and outstanding writer, but first and
foremost, he is one of us -- another imperfect, neurotic human being. It is
from this dual vantage point -- professional and personal -- that he offers
his simple, but powerful truths about who we are, and who we can be. The
first step, according to Rutledge, is getting past the idea that perfection
is even an option for human beings. This one hour audio cassette just might
set you free.
