I received the Level C and D books just 2 days before my learning-challenged 3rd grader took the NNAT test. Obviously we weren't aiming for him to be placed in gifted classes; I just wanted to familiarize him with the test format and get an idea of how he should perform on the test in school. After spending one night on each book, I honestly had no idea what to expect, but that's often the case with my son, so I just waited to see the results. To my surprise, he scored in the mid-to-high-average range, which is a HUGE difference from his usual below-to-low-average verbal test score range. This was a huge boost to my son's confidence, and it helped to show his teachers what he is capable of, given the right tools. I'm a strong believer that everyone does better on tests if they see practice questions beforehand, so I'm sure my son's performance was a combination of natural aptitude AND these practice books. Therefore, I'd suggest these books to anyone whose kids are scheduled to take this test. That being said, the books are very straight to the point, and probably only cost a tiny fraction of the selling price to produce. They're very expensive, so if your local library has them, or if you can buy them used, I'd go that route before buying them brand new.

I can't believe that this book costs what it costs. The input is bare bones, and the print is small. Also, the exercises are useless. What a ripoff.

My son had taken the NNAT exam before and did not score well. This year we used Mercer Publishing's preparation book and scored in the top 8%. My son now thinks he is smart! Well worth the price of the book.

If your child has not been tested for NNAT, it is fun to see his/her nonverbal ability. It contains questions for reasoning and pattern. Nothing special. You may find some similar questions by googling the web.

The price for the book is high for 38 questions. Other practice books are much cheaper, e.g., Scoring High on the Stanford Achievement Test with one set of test cost $4.12 in Amazon.

The other thing to note is that if you buy it because your child is going to be screened for gifted program, you may be disapointed. Gifted is nature of the child. As indicated by the publisher, it has no connection to NNAT, which implies it cannot copy questions used by NNAT, and you won't see the same questions in NNAT test. Your child need to be gifted in nature to pass the screening.

Thanks to this practice test my son got a perfect score on the NNAT exam. He is ranked in the top 1 percent of the nation.

Last year, we bought hundreds of dollars worth of workbooks that contained thousands of pages of questions, but he did not do very well at all. This year, with just this practice test he got a perfect score. This was money well spent!!
