This review is from: PgMP Exam Practice Test and Study Guide 2nd edition (ESI International Project Management Series) (Spiral-bound)
This is my first time EVER writing a review for anything. But i need to give credit - when credit is due.I bought and studied many books for my PgMP exam. I took the exam yesterday and Passed. Thankfully. Of all the materials I used, this is THE BEST BY FAR!!! I wish i knew before hand - and focused on it more :) To pass the exams - you need A LOT OF practical experience though! Good luck!!!

A Good Exam Prep,

This study guide provides very good practice for the exam preparation/familiarization. (I passed the PgMP exam with it as one of the major study tools). The only drawback of the book is "insufficient proofreading". Some of the questions' answers should not be corrected (though the quantity shouldn't be much). BTW, it should be noted that PgMP syllabus should be changed starting this September (based on 4th edition of PMBOK Guide & 2nd edition of Program Management Standard).

Good book, but again you are on your own,
This review is from: PgMP Exam Practice Test and Study Guide 2nd edition (ESI International Project Management Series) (Spiral-bound)
The PgMP certification examination has very few questions having one quick & direct answer. By that I mean calculating CPI, responsible role fro program success etc questions. For most other questions, all the four choices seem close to right answer. The key to pass PgMP written exam is (1) your ability to read the long questions, (2) your ability to remove the noise content so you know what the question focuses on (3) very importantly your ability to strike out the inappropriate answers by reasoning. This book and few others in market help you practice and so develop the ability of narrowing down to close answer. One serious draw back with this book is (A) it does not give reasons why other 3 choices were less appropriate when one choice was most appropriate answer for a question. So you might still believe, in good number of questions, at least there is one more appropriate answer other than what these authors chose. (B) there are good number of questions, the authors picked up a sentence or two from the PgMP standard and created questions out of it. While there is nothing wrong about it, you may get frustrated that you cannot memorize the standard cover to cover. And again, once you are in exam, you hardly would see (A) and (B) had helped you, but it is your abilities at (1),(2), and (3) that help you. So please focus on this aspect. Thanks Venu Komanduri

After reading/reviewing the "Standard", and other study guides, the last 30 hours of cramming was all about this book. Finished reviewing the results of my second (and last) full size practice exam 20 minutes before hopping in the car for the short drive to the testing center and 4 hours of focus (no bathroom breaks-the clock doesn't stop). I really think going through this book, AFTER a lot of work on the basics, got me through this and resulted in a passed exam. The built in clock times your practice effort and gives you a great reality check. Finished the real thing with 3 minutes to spare, hit the finish button, and headed for the facilities...
