3.0 out of 5 stars Real SATS? Not..., October 4, 2005
This review is from: 11 Practice Tests for the New SAT and PSAT, 2006 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
I certainly agree with what the commenter, who works for Princeton Review, says, "nothing prepares you more for the real thing than doing real problems on real exams. That's what this book offers."

The problem is that, with a few exceptions, these are NOT "real" SAT questions. They are Princeton Review exams that are similar to the SATs, but not as well-written (nor as hard) as those prepared by the pros at ETS. Plus, the explantions for the verbal answers are not terribly edifying (the math answers are OK.) Princeton's own Cracking the SATs is a better book because its practice drills and tips are brilliant (Joe Blog, etc), even though its tests have the same problem. (Note, however, they are far superior to those of Kaplan and Barrons, which isn't saying much.) Recommendation: buy Princeton Review's Cracking the New SAT 2006, and get a free copy of a genuine SAT when you register for the SAT.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good., May 10, 2006
This review is from: 11 Practice Tests for the New SAT and PSAT, 2006 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
It is what it is, 11 tests for SAT. Many books say to study for the test lesson by lesson, but this technique will only boost your scores from 200 to 500. To achieve a high score (700 and up) you must bombard yourself with tests for a month everyday. Get this book, along with the Collegeboard SAT book and another one with sample tests. Anyone looking to improve their math scores should visit [...] and watch videos that explain many examples of level 5 difficulty problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely perfect!!!, December 27, 2005

This review is from: 11 Practice Tests for the New SAT and PSAT, 2006 Edition (College Test Prep) (Paperback)
If you are looking for a book of practice SATs, THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY!! There were about 2 wrong math answers I found in about 5 practice tests, as opposed to the Kaplan book, in which I found 3 mistakes in the math section of the first practice test alone!! For everyone who wants "the real thing," the format of Princeton Review's tests are EXACTLY the same as on the real SAT, font and everything. The December 3 SAT felt exactly as if I were taking another Princeton Review practice test, and anyone who says these tests are easier than an actual SAT simply has a grudge against Princeton Review. I scored a 219 on the PSAT and a 2260 on the SAT two months later, raising my critical reading score from 67 to 800 and math from 72 to 740 (add a 0 to the former scores to get a good comparison). I can not praise this book enough.

In short, if you feel you have all the tools and hate stupid, easy concepts being spoonfed to you but just want a ton of great practice, this is the book for you. If you're willing to devote some time to this book and learn from your mistakes, you WILL score higher on the SAT.
