Practicing Your Path: A Book Of Retreats For An Intentional Life by Holly W. Whitcomb (pastor and clergy woman, United Church of Christ) is a deeply spiritual book filled with contemplative methods for opening oneself to deeper thoughts and making room in one's life for God. Designed as a companion and guidebook for those who wish to engage in a spiritual retreat, either by themselves or with a group, Practicing Your Path is a direct and meaningful guidebook filled with step-by-step suggestions and meditations. Practicing Your Path is very highly recommended for anyone with a serious interest in experiencing and benefiting from an intensely personal and meaningful spiritual retreat.

Even though I am still working with the book, and will take a while to finish it, I find it extremely helpful in organizing a personal retreat, even though I think it would work wonderfully with a group retreat also. I like the structural disciplines, the prayers, questions, and stories that guide my spiritual journey. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a beginner in the art of prayer, or to a more experienced believer who needs the disciplines of withdrawing for a while and spending time apart with God, and this delightful book.

I bought this book to help plan retreats at church. It has many different ideas and many themes. I imagine it will be helpful for more than one retreat. I used it myself for an at home individual retreat, and found it very useable, very relevant for my life. I recommend this book.

this is a useful guide to conducting a retreat for oneself or others. as someone who has given many retreats, i have found this book refreshing in its openness to engage one another in going deep within. useful practical advice that does not bind one to a particular structure but gives tools to create a structure of your own that is open to the movement of the Spirit.
