A good and helpful VHS., March 19, 2010
This review is from: Practicing and performing: A Pianist's Guide [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was slightly "miffed" after reading the previous review. This is not a tape that teaches how to play the piano. This give little tips and pointers to the already accomplished. As someone who is studying classical piano, this tape gave me a new perspective on little things all musicians must face. Mr. Abrahms talks about proper breathing and mental preparation. Also how to relax your fingers and facing down your nerves. I know from experience that performing in a recital can be very intimidating. I can go to pieces if not properly prepared. So, i recommend this tape to someone who already has or is studying piano, and would like to hear and see a few suggestions dealing with other issues. Music is not just playing notes. It involves complete mental and physical union. These are the points brought out on this VHS. It is also wonderful to hear and watch Mr. Abrahms perform and show examples.

GOOD FOR PIANIST WHO HAS RECENTLY STARTED, November 12, 2004
This review is from: Practicing and performing: A Pianist's Guide [VHS] (VHS Tape)
- Thers not a truly well definition of the interpretation aspect of playng, and what interpretation is absed on.
- He plays only with hes fingers
-Pieces by chopin or others sounds all with the same color and sound...
- Good explications of what the video sell's
To get a good practice is more important to find you your own way to get the best practising, you cant be all your life pratsing as well as others did after because that was the way others get the best in their times...
Good Luck !
