I did encounter one hiccup during assembly: The instructions mention two "plastic connectors" in addition to the bolts and wing nuts; I tore the box apart and found no plastic parts. As I was putting it together, it seemed like the two frames might start to rub together over time as the nuts loosened and produce noise (metal on metal), so perhaps the plastic connectors are some kind of separator. To that end, I simply placed a rubber washer (Grolsch bottle gasket) on each bolt between the two frames; this separated the frames just enough to keep them from touching.
Construction-wise, this setup seems solid. I'm a very big guy (about 340 lb.) and share the bed with an average-sized partner a few times a month. After about six weeks of use I've noticed no noise, wobbling, or bending. I did have some concerns about the welds on the legs; the welds do not go all the way around and look more like tack welds but, as I've said, everything has held together just fine so far.
Be aware: After discarding my old box spring (it was worn out and made the bed waaay too tall) and putting the mattress directly on the frame, I noticed that the mattress felt quite a bit firmer. This made the first night rather uncomfortable, but I quickly got used to it and now I'm sleeping like the dead, like I always did. Also, I found that my mattress would slide around on the frame rather easily and by morning I'd wind up with all my pillows stuck between the mattress and the wall; I remedied this by purchasing a rubber no-skid rug pad (4' x 6', I think) and placing it between the mattress and the frame. No more sliding.Read more ›

Perfect to fit through a narrow stair well. Perfect if you can't fit a full-sized box spring up the stairs. This is a great option for older homes like ours.Published 1 month ago by EmJay
If you have vigorous activity on your bed, not the way to go. On hardwoods, it squeaks and slides. It broke after a year or two.Published 4 months ago by Lisa
