Book Description

All war. No love. Madeleine’s been hurt too many times in the dating scene to let Byron beat her in some huge prank war. They’ve had their deserters, their POWS, their casualties, but no one can risk losing the battle of the sexes.
Except now something strange is happening at the college...and it’s not just the students. Buried deep beneath the pranks is real danger, and the only other person who suspects is Byron. Should Mad join sides with him or does that mean forfeiting her heart to the enemy?
In this fun-filled novel, Prank Wars invites the reader to experience a BYU culture rich with hilarity and ofttimes zany way of life where the unexpected can and will happen. A mix of mystery, comedy, action, and clean romance; it’s girls vs. boys in a hilarious prank war that pits the college students against their nemeses. When some of the pranks start getting dangerous, can the two enemies join forces to capture the culprit?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent New Book by Stephanie Fowers! February 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Prank Wars is awesomely sassy, brilliantly sneaky, and spine tingly!

Mad Dog is one of the best female main characters ever! She and Byron totally embody the best of best in college prank competitions . . . that will either lead to a total I Hate You relationship or a Jump Off a Cliff and Straight into Love relationship. The pranks, banter, and twisted relationships in this book keeps you turning page after page after page until you hit The End. Your butt will be sore from sitting so long and your throat will be throbbing from laughing so hard! Even then, you'll want more, more, more!

5.0 out of 5 stars College Students Gone Wild / Espionage, Too July 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you enjoy silly pranks... almost unbelievable prank wars between college boys and college girls... in segregated living quarters, you'll enjoy this book.
The girls, as roommates... are all very detailed and an interesting group of characters. Their "war" against the boys... started because 26 year old Madeline got dumped before her wedding date by a guy "player" (and her heart was broken and then she got angry). She invites other girls who have been dumped into her prank army... it is something that makes me think of the fun and freedom some college students have... all non-harmful fun... but really good pranks!
The joy of fun. :)

And, then, there's the mystery... where things just don't quite seem right. And people aren't always what they seem to be. Byron flirts with "Mad Dog" as he's nicknamed her... and is the leader of the boys/young men in return pranks.

Madeline isn't quite sure of whether she likes that she's enjoying Byron too much... or if she should maybe give the handsome Eric a chance? Her best friend and one of her roommates, Tory, is her closest friend and calls her Captain as they do the pranks.

Somewhere... the danger sets in and I found it fascinating. The plot thickened in a very interesting way. It was hard for me to figure out who the bad guys and gals were... until the story got very close to the ending... and a sleeper agent for the good guys was activated at the very end... who it was really surprised me!

This entire book isn't something I'd thought I'd enjoy... but it was a ridiculous romp of fun, antics and devious plots and danger. I truly liked the book and would read another book by this author in a heartbeat.

There were a couple of misspellings or wrong words... but only 2 or 3 tops... and they didn't distract from the story at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too predictable March 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Although I enjoyed Fowers' previous novels, this one missed the mark for me. "Prank Wars" is, to the best of my knowledge, Fowers' first attempt at romantic suspense (with a smidge of SF tossed in for good measure). I don't consider myself an overly critical reader, but there were several problems with this novel that were difficult for me to overlook. First of all, the characters seemed like re-workings of those in "Rules of Engagement," with minor changes in appearance and personality. Secondly, it could not have been more obvious which characters were the villains and which were the heroes, if they had entered with their roles tattooed on their foreheads. Sadly, there was very little suspense in this romantic suspense novel. Next, Madeleine, the main character, was far too melodramatic; perhaps this was an attempt at humor, but it was a little heavy-handed. And lastly, I found it highly implausible that Madeleine would do such an abrupt about-face in her attitude toward her ex at the end of the book, with apparently little cause. I can see her working her way toward forgiveness, but nothing he does justifies her generous re-evaluation of him as "a pretty decent guy."

5.0 out of 5 stars good read March 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this book. I loved the mystery with the hint of romance. It was a nice change of pace. I thought the characters were well fun and I laughed alot. I loved the ending where the mystery comes to a head but almost wish there was a second book to continue on with the romance between the characters and even another mystery. I kept thinking I had it figured out but I kept changing my mind until it all came out. I will read other books by this author!

I liked it. I had fun with it. The culture was hilarious to picture(and remember). The characters vivid and everything was meant to keep you on your toes. Definitely not the ending you start out expecting.

More About the Author

Stephanie Fowers loves bringing stories to life, and depending on her latest madcap ideas will do it through written word, song, and/ or film. She absolutely adores Bollywood and bonnet movies; i.e., BBC (which she supposes includes non-bonnet movies Sherlock and Dr. Who). Presently, she lives in Salt Lake where she's living the life of the starving artist. This summer, she will do the reading of her musical, "The Raven" with the talented composer, Hilary Hornberger. She also expects to film some shorts with Triad Film Productions. Stephanie plans to bring more of her novels out to greet the light of day. Be sure to watch for her upcoming books, including YA fantasy, science fiction, mysteries, a compilation of short twisted fairy tales, and more--many more--romantic comedies. May the adventures begin.
