This is by far the best study guide I found for the Praxis II PLT middle grades 5-9. The only complaint about the book is that the two practice tests are outdated with the Praxis PLT format change in September of last year (now more essay questions and fewer multiple choice), but the information that you need to know is still the same. The book helped me pass on the first try.

This book was great. I studied only from this book and passed the PLT 5-9 without trouble. The book gives detailed descriptions of everything you need to know for the test. It also has two really great practice tests with descriptions for the answers. Definitely use this book! The only thing it can't prepare you for is how ridiculously fast you have to write because you only have two hours to take the test. Good luck!

Study the reviews, take the exams and you'll do great

Having thoroughly studied this book, I was surprised to find that the actual test was rather different. There were questions on legislation and assessment statistics that were not covered in the book. Also, this book stressed that grammar and writing ability were important in the constructed answer questions, but on the test you could use list, outline, prose - whatever form you wanted to get the information down.
