I had looked at several Praxis/PPST review books. I ended up getting this one because it is written by ETS, the folks that make the test. I figured they of all people would know what sorts of questions would be on the test and what I should study! The book is clear, informative, and concise. You won't waste your time studying unnecessary information. It also includes a complete practice test and information on taking the test by computer. I took the computerized PPST today and got a GREAT score, way above the passing score required by my state board of education. I highly recommend this book!

I used this book along with one other prep manual(Cliffs)and I passed the test on my first try. This book does not give much practice material. The reading, math and writing sections are glossed over. I would not call this book an exclusive prep book. It contains only one practice test. The questions that are given are from an actual old praxis test. So you will get a general idea of what a real test will look like. Another perk this book offers is a complete list of essay topics. My actual essay topic was listed in this book. Even though it is not packed with test prep information, I would still purchase it for the essay topics and old practice exam.

Since this book is published by the makers of the PPST, anyone taking this test needs to buy this book simply because it contains an actual old exam. I found that this exam was very similar to the actual PPST I took, and my score on the practice exam was a good indicator of my score on the real exam. However, this book is not good if you need a thorough review of the material. It skims over things and does not go into too much detail. I needed a lot of math review and this book did not help too much with that. I also bought the Barron's book and thought that one was great for the review but mediocre on the practice tests (that one did have 3 though and this book only has one, but it is an actual old exam). So if you are taking the PPST definitely buy this book but also buy a good one for a review. For that I would recommend Barrons. I got a 186 on the math and 184 on the reading and am still waiting for the writing. I owe my good scores to these two books.

This book gave good information of what to expect on the exam. There are not many practice problems, but each type of problem you can expect is detailed at length. The practice test was a good indicator of the actual exam; I scored the same on reading as I did on their practice exam and better on math. As mentioned already, the essay topics are all listed so if you're very diligent you could write all 70 essays ahead of time and be set when you get to the actual test! Overall MUCH better than the Barron's book though it has less review and fewer practice questions. Barron's is not as focused on what is actually tested so I felt some of what they cover is just wasting your time.

After researching books and reading numerous reviews to determine which book I would buy to be my PRAXIS study guide, I decided on this book. It is written by the same company who writes the PRAXIS exam and I believe they would know better than anyone on what to study. This book has been a great help because I have strengths in Reading and Writing, yet Mathematics is my weakness, yet this book is coaching me through the process. I love the review of what to study and the problems. With the Prayer, this Praxis Study Guide, Math.com and a Math Textbook I have faith that I will pass the math.

Strongly recommend. I bought this book one month ago, and it is a really good preparation for the real test. Although there is only one test for each portion, but if you study each one carefully, I bet you will pass the test. I did. Good Luck to you. You should buy one.
Another good one is Cracking the Praxis by Peinceton Review.

Very thorough in reviewing reading, writing and math. It's been awhile since I've been in college and this made it easy for me to review, understand better and take the practice tests after reviewing. Everything in here is important and relevant. I felt better after studying with this. A great guide with easy to follow print, step by step instructions, explanations and answers (rather than just the answers) beneath the problems and smooth transitions from one topic to the next.

This was a valueable resource for anyone who is self-studying for the PRAXIS exam.

If you are going to take the PPST and you want to purchase a study guide to prepare, this is THE one to get. The fact that it is produced by the people that make the exams is evident throughout. Explanations are thorough and concise. The practice exams are very helpful and build testing confidence. The sample essay questions are a fantasic bonus. The only reason I did not give a rating of 5 stars is the guide's overall format/layout is a bit cumbersome.

This was an excellent study guide. It was clear, concise and to the point on what you really need to prepare for when studying for the Praxis. It also goes into detail about what you need to do on the day of your test, and the layout of the different exams (paper vs. computer). It covered all the topics of Praxis I and included a list of essay topics for the Writing portion, as well as a scoring guide for the Practice tests in the back. Can't emphasize enough how much help this was to me! Absolutley WONDERFUL!
