More About the Author

Hi, My name is Will Davis Jr.(Learn more at willdavisjr.com.) I was born in Austin January 6, 1962 (you can do the math). I have been a serious follower of Christ since 1978 and have been in Christian ministry since 1980.

I married the lovely Susie Gerrie on June 1, 1985 (Susie was 6 at the time. It was an arranged marriage). Susie and I have three awesome kids--Will 3, Emily and Sara.

Besides my faith and family, I'm passionate about . . . .

. . . my hometown of Austin. I love Austin's beauty, quirkiness and rich cultural diversity.

. . . . Austin Christian Fellowship. Susie and I helped start ACF in May of 1993. It's been our great joy to serve our city with such high-caliber Christian people.

. . . . prayer. I was blessed growing up to have some great mentors in prayer. I love prayer and I know it works. I've written four books on prayer and hope to write more.

. . . . mountains. I grew up hiking in the Colorado Rockies and I had my first real God encounter alone on a mountain at age 12. I'm a Texas kid, but some of my best memories are in the Rockies.

. . . . missions. You will frequently find me serving in a third world country.

. . . . and yes, the Doobie Brothers! I've been a Doobie fan since I was a kid and yes, I did inhale.

The Fine Print: Will holds a BA in History from Baylor University, and a Master's of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Format: Paperback
Will Davis Jr, author of PRAY BIG and PRAY BIG FOR YOUR MARRIAGE, has now composed a prayer instructional guide for parents wanting to step up their prayer lives in terms of both quality and effectiveness. His text is chock-full of interesting anecdotes from his own life and family whereby readers can "see" how real life and real prayer collide in beautiful ways.

Davis opens his work with a stirring true story of a young girl whose panic over school attendance was destroying her and her family. Despite the fact that this Christian family "did all the right things," their child continued to be plagued by irrational fears and was incapacitated. They tried everything they could think of as parents --- changing schools, medication, the works --- but still their daughter suffered mightily. It was only after watching her battle to walk through the doors of her school on one particular morning that her mother heard God impress a life-altering message upon this woman's heart. Begging God to help the girl "make it" through the day, she sensed Him asking her, "Is this all you want for your daughter?" At this pivotal moment, the mother learned to pray in a completely new (and biblical) way. Immediately she began asking the Lord to bless, favor and strengthen the child --- and God answered.

Davis next lays the foundation of pinpoint praying, and moms and dads will recognize that all too often their prayers are neither effective nor emboldened and don't even please the Lord, for He wants them to come boldly before Him and they expect Him to do great things. Sadly, parents offer broad prayers that lack real courage and passion. Or their cries are too vague, meaning they're fuzzy and have no real meaning; they don't ask anything tangible of God.

I have always prayed for my children but this book
makes me see that my prayers can be more focused.
It reminds me of a magnifying glass used to intensify the
sun and start a fire on dry twigs.

With the points in this book, I feel like my prayers will have that effect.

Every parent should read this!

This is such a great tool for prayer. It is really helpful in not only teaching you how to pray and what to pray for, but in helping you think about how you view prayer and how that prayer relates to your children.
