Sad Day in Harlem,
This review is from: Pray IV Reign (Audio CD)
Let me start off by saying Jim Jones is nothing special on the mic. When I read in a magazine that he was going to show his lyrical side on this lp I had to lol. This album is much of the same.Funny ad-libs,sub-par lyrics and great beats. Most kids under 18 maybe 20 will like it, but as a hip hop head and grown man I can't support such garbage...Jim Jones "fallin"

Is Jim Jones the worst rapper of all time?,
By Enlightened "Both Eyes Closed, see what u don... (Atlanta Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pray IV Reign (Audio CD)
It seems like Jim Jones has gotten worse (instead of getting better) with each subsequent release. Don't get me wrong, Jim Jones has a few songs that I genuinely like (Summer With Miami, Ballin, Certified Gangstas and a few others) and he's also a very interesting and charismatic guy in interviews and such. But in my opinion the guy just cannot rap. I mean come on, even souljah boy showed some signs of improvement. Jim Jones' delivery is one of the most boring of all time and his flow is severely lacking. His lyrics are very uninteresting and he doesn't try to inject any energy into them at all to at least give a facade of being good.
When I was listening to the album all I could think about is when will it be over? It seemed like an eternity until I got to track 7, Precious ft. Ryan Leslie, and it just made me wish this was a Ryan Leslie song featuring Jim Jones because Ryan Leslie finally breathes some personality and life into this album. It's a few other songs that make the cut like This Is For My B's and How To Be A Boss which keep this album from being a complete waste of 48 minutes. I liked Pop Champagne until I saw the very unmanly video with a bunch of guys pouring champagne on each other and into each others mouths and sliding across the floor. The song quickly lost it's appeal and it's just not the same listening to it anymore. The 2nd single NaNaNaNa is one of the worst singles in recent hip hop memory ranking up there with Do The Ricky Bobby in having absolutely no redeeming qualities about it. Thankfully by the time you get to this song the album is over. I feel NY is slowly starting to get their swagger back but not with Jim Jones though. While it's a few songs that are worth the time the album is largely forgettable and extremely pedestrian. This is easily his worst album and even though we know he's not a lyrical juggernaut we know he can do better than this.

HORRIBLE....Please do not waste your time or money getting this CD.. I must say I am very disappointed with Jim Jones on this one.. I was expecting another classic like his P.O.E.M.. I was very disappointed.. This one was for the money..... Still love Jim Jones, but this CD was both a waste of time and money, which I have little of... Jim go back to th studio and put your heart into it.....

True to LifeOne good song with a good beat and production and pretty good lyrics blow the bank. I found it hard to listen to the rest of this album but that track stood out for me.

Jimmy gets worse every album. He aint that good of a rapper anyways but i rep dipset so ive always listened to him. If you became a fan after ballin and want new material, dont waste your money on this garbage... go get On my way to church... legit album. Jones if you knew whats good you would come back to the set.

First of all ever since Jim Jones felt like he could rap Ive only barely liked one of his albums he decided to come out with. NOW THIS RUBBISH, and people will never tell him the truth. If u know anything about him u know he doesnt really sound like this in person, he is forcing his fake Deep voice. And The Tracks on here?? Boring! Only 3 songs stand out and "NANANA" is the worst song in Hip Hop history, dont beleive me? Look for that song. Quit rap now Jim and stop betraying you friends and selling your soul for fame. This is just SAD, your killing Hip Hop by lying to people.

Pretty good 5th solo album from Jim Jones,

Jim Jones returns with his 5th solo album, and maybe his best and most balance work to date. I have 4 of his albums (I don't own "Harlem's American Gangster") and 2 I'd give 4 stars (this one and his "Hustler's P.O.M.E.") and I'd give his first 2 albums 3.5 stars. Not the best lyricist, he has a style different from most but he does a good job with it. Of the 16 song on here, 1 is a classic, 1 I skip, 3 are ok, the other 11 are good. Guests are real heavy and are on every song but 2, a lot have his Byrd Gang counterparts, including the eerily similar in voice and style to Jay-Z, Noe. Production is prety good as well. Chink Santana and Ron Browz ech do 3 songs, No ID, Track Slayerz, Ryan Leslie, Magnedo 7, Young Yonny, Tripe A, Dangerous LLC, Illfonics and Young Seff all do 1 song. For fans of Jim or the DipSet I'd say pick up this album.

Is Max B or Cam'Ron Available?,
By
This review is from: Pray IV Reign (Audio CD)
What the hell are frienemies. What are these words. Jimmy needs to reach out to Cam'Ron and he needs to do it fast. Byrd gang is nothing without Max B and stacks and Jim is nothing without Cam and Max B. Dont buy this album at all wack songs and a very lame title for the album.

Oh I been praying alright!!!!,
By
This review is from: Pray IV Reign (Audio CD)
I have been praying and praying that this dude would quit. But he keeps releasing more and more commercial BS. I thought eminem's release was bad but this one takes the cake. Really really weak lyrics, garbage beats and weak guest appearances. The only ounce of light in the album is ryan leslie and ludacris appearing on the album. Other than that, this album is a complete flop. I would rate it lower if i could. Don't waste your money!!!
