5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning!
I did not used to be a big fan of her music.

Pray changed all that.

Her music is stunning, life changing, tear jerking, and thrilling.

Who can sing lyrics better then their author? RSJ created a brilliant CD with brilliant music.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, Rebecca
Rebecca St. James is a wonderful example of a teen on fire for God. Her testimony is amazing, as well as her traveling family. The "Pray" album was good, but could've been better. I comend her for her her selflesness and heart for Christ, and her music is good;if I were a critic, I'd say that the songs sometimes seem a bit contrived and light, but that could...

Pray is faultless. the type of song that makes you fall on your knees and think of Jesus, all he's done, and how he can change you.

The song Give Myself Away is similar. I cried listening to it. It has a big beat, and a big message. I love this song.

I'll Carry You always brings tears to my eyes. I think about all the struggles I've had in my life, and how my family, and Jesus lifted me up, and this song is a perfect expression of agape love, unending love for someone and that willingness to help someone.

Peace blew me off my feet. This song rocked me for quite some time. The words "Be Still and Know, You Are God" are rather soothing. In a way, this is the best song on the CD. It mixes rock and that stuff I call perfect words and makes an incredible blend.

This CD has to be one of the best I've ever heard. Along with Michelle Tumes, this CD is top five on my list.

I am not a rock girl. But this CD is not Rock. IT IS PURE WORSHIP TO JESUS CHRIST!

Thank-you. Now, buy this CD. Maybe it will change your life. Maybe it will strengthen your relationship with Jesus. Or maybe it will just fill you with the urge to go outside and. . . pray.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great worship CD!, August 8, 2005
This review is from: Pray (Audio CD)
I love this CD not just for its catchy songs but for the worshipful atmosphere it creates whenever I listen to it. I get frustrated with "Christian" music that does nothing more than induce a vaguely cheerful emotion. I want music that focuses my mind and heart on the Lord, not on my emotions. Pray does just that with lyrics that praise and honor God. I also appreciate the fact that Rebecca St. James' lyrics are simple to remember - after just a few times of hearing her songs, I find myself singing them all day! Be sure not to miss the hidden song "Be Thou My Vision" on the last track. It is the best version of the best hymn I have heard to date. I highly recommend this CD and would like to thank Ms. St. James for offering a CD that gives glory to the Lord God.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Contemporary Christian CD ever made?, February 12, 2000
By
This review is from: Pray (Audio CD)
This latest CD by Rebecca St James is full of Christian commitment and Spiritual encouragement - along with some dazzling music tracks and RSJ's absolutely superb vocal ability. I actually consider this album to be one of best music CD's (of any kind) that I ever heard. The music is fast (- 'very fast' by Christian music norm) but the message is strong, pure, and wonderful. The love and commitment for Jesus Christ that Rebecca St.James expresses on this album are so palpable, I often have tears welling up in my eyes when I listen to her songs. (And I have listened to this album many, many, many times. )

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Musically Interesting Christian Artist I've Heard, January 18, 2000
By
This review is from: Pray (Audio CD)
Years ago, I gave up listening to most popular music, including Christian pop, preferring more musically interesting classical music. Someone sent me this album, and I've listened to it countless times. Rebecca's creativity and blend of musical styles and harmonies are amazing! Her version of Be Thou My Vision (unmarked, at the end) blew me away. Unlike so many albums where just the title song is a hit, ALL of her songs are wonderful. They keep getting better and better. And her message is solid and real. I can't wait for her next album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good!, December 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Pray (Audio CD)
This CD is pretty good. When I first heard her voice, I thought that this just wasn't my kind of music. Then I got the CD, and I was very pleasantly surprised! As one reviewer said, "There is a beauty to the rawness of her voice." That puts it in a nutshell. I especially enjoyed "Give Myself Away." The other songs on there are *great* (specifically "Pray," "OK," "Hold Me Jesus," and many more), but "Give Myself Away" really hit home. The lyrics are wonderful, the music is awesome, and Rebecca St. James really lives her life according to God: She doesn't just sing about it. So not only is it great Christian music, it's also got a great Christian message.

4.0 out of 5 stars Addicting!, September 8, 2001

I have never heard any of Rebecca St.James' albums in the past, but I picked up PRAY out of curiosity. I absolutely fell in love with her upbeat style and use of modern vocal mixing sounds. I use this album for everything from good workout music with the fast beat, to sing along to when cleaning the house, and even for personal reflection time with almighty God! Her lyrics make you think, and more importantly to listen to Him. Love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Follow-up to God, July 19, 2001

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Pray (Audio CD)
"Pray" is Rebecca's follow-up to her successful "God" CD. This album is aimed directly at the teenage set and hits the mark. Songs like "Pray" and "Come Quickly Lord" are some great fast paced songs that will get your blood pumping. "Hold Me Jesus" is my personal favorite. It really speaks to me personally that with the Lord I will always feel safe. Rebecca's singing and style on this album really show a growing maturity from her previous offerings (God and her self-titled Rebecca St. James). If her talent continues to grow, she will eventually be one of the top female singers in Contemporary Christian music (if she isn't already!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album, one of Rebecca's best!, March 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Pray (Audio CD)
This is certainly one of RSJ's best albums ever, and certainly my favorite. I love all of RSJ's work but this album has a speical place in my heart. Here are my reviews, song by song.
-Pray- This song is about God's goodness and forgiveness when we lay ourselves aside and pray to Him. Great song, with great music behind it. "I cry out from the ashes boundless and unchained" I give it an 8 1/2.(the video to this song is good too- you can see at rsjames.com)
-OK- This is a simple song but a good one about things going wrong, but that God keeps his promises to his children. I love the lyrics: "'Cause I know you'll not abandon me, you will complete what's begun in me" -What a promise! Rebecca sings with such a beautiful, raw honesty in this one. I give it an 9.
-Give Myself Away- This song has Rebecca wanting to give all of herself to follow God, and not hide from Him. "I cant stay here anymore, there's no time to hide away." This song is close to my heart. I give it a 9.
- Hold Me Jesus- One word sums this song up, "WOW!" This is her cover of the Rich Mullins song. Rebecca recorded this song after it struck a cord with her, in a hard time in her life. These lyrics really got me: "Surrender don't come naturally to me. I'd rather fight you for something I don't really want, than take what You give that I need." I give this one a 10, her voice is so full of pain.
-I'll Carry You"- One of my ulitimate favorites on the album. Insperation for this song came from an adventure race in which members of a team carried their injured teammate to the finish line. This touched Rebecca so much she, she cried, and wrote this song about carrying each other's burdens. "I can't walk this road without you , you can not go it alone. We were never ment to make it on our own."- AMEN! This one's a 10.
-Come Quickly Lord- I agree that Rebecca handled the subject of Jesus' return well. Rebecca wrote this song with her brother, out of simple longing for Jesus to come back. This song in full of longing, but it also worshipfull."Come quiclkly Lord, when the sun grows dark and the moon will shine or more... Come dear Lord." I love it! It's a 10.
-Peace- This song was written of of Rebecca's own pain. It's a very haunting song with the piano playing an etheral cord, and Rebecca wonderful raw and breathy vocals. The lyrics of the chorus is taken from the Bible: "You ask that I be still and know you are God. Be still and know you are God." It's too much of a good song to pass up, espeically during a hard time in your life. It's a definte 10.
-Mirror- This is a song about inner beauty being the thing God cares about. "Take me, make me, beautiful to You. Create me so I mirror You. Take me make me an image of You, because Lord I want to mirror You." It certainly puts things in perspective to know that God looks, and cares about the inside This a euro-pop sounding techno track. Its' a 9.
-Lord, You're Beautiful- Wow! This song is so great, God's anointing on it and that's waht makes it great. Dare I say greater than the oringial by Keith Green. Rebecca greaty improved the song, in my opinon, by adding in the lyrics:"I can see your face, now. I can feel your grace now." It's so worshipful. Rebecca's voice really shines on this track. This is a song you won't soon forget, it's a 10.
-Love To Love You- This is one of the happiest songs on the album. It's very welcome with allt the intense emotion on the other tracks. It thanks God for who he is. "Oh how I love to love You, oh, oh, oh... I love you, Lord, I reach, I wait, i run, praise. I love you!" PS: Rebecca's little sister opens up the next track "Omega". Her voice is so cute! 9 out of 10.
-Omega- This is such a fitting way to end this album. This song wa taken from a letter that apostle Paul wrote. "May the grace of our Lord me with you. Now and allways may you stay blameless till he comes." Some people don't like this song but I love it! -This song has a hidden track on it. It's a very good version of "Be Thou My Vision"
Some people won't like her voice style, but if you like someone who has a beautiful, raw, voice, great Biblical songwriting, and great music, then this album "Pray" is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent cd, January 23, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Pray (Audio CD)
i never heard of rsj until she came to our local church (but i didn't go see her because, at the time, i didn't know who she was. stupid mistake.) however, i have been so blessed and inspired by this cd. the music itself is great (i've listened to "peace" and "omega" countless times already). But even more, i've been touched by the message. In listening to her cd, i'm so encouraged to be reminded that God is using young people today to share His hope and message.

rsj feels led to make young people 'shine' brightly for Christ, and this cd definitely had that effect on me. highly recommended.
