5.0 out of 5 stars Love the vocals on "Cry"
Even though this album is more hard-edge than I'm used to, I find that it is extremely listenable. The song "Cry" is especially good. I couldn't get the song out of my head from the first time I heard it. I also love the beat of "Drift". This is a self-produced album by the band and it is so good, that I can't wait to hear what they can sound like with a production...

1.0 out of 5 stars Con ROCKS!!!!!
I love Con's voice, but do not care for this cd AT ALL. He's wonderful on the Killr Queen cd though. I really hope Con will avoid making anymore music with this band. IMO they are not up to his standards.

Constantine is so versatile, I love his voice no matter what he's singing.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!!, May 11, 2005
This review is from: Pray For The Soul of Betty (Clean) (Audio CD)
I bought both the clean and the explicit versions of this CD. (I like the explicit best). This is one of those rare cd's in which each and every song is a "keeper." No filler songs on this CD. If you're a rocker, you'll like Pray For The Soul of Betty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, May 31, 2005
This review is from: Pray For The Soul of Betty (Clean) (Audio CD)
I originally purchased this CD because I am a huge Constantine Maroulis fan. I figured that the music probably wouldn't be my style because I am not a fan of hard rock. I was sure that Constantine's vocals would be the only thing worth listening for. However, since I received my CD 3 weeks ago, it is the only one I listen to in the car. It is full of life and emotion. I just love it!! I still love Constantine, though!

I am not normally a fan of hard rock but this CD is awesome! I was impressed by Constantine Maroulis on American Idol so I thought I would give his band a try and I wasn't disappointed. The song Cry is absolutely amazing and I think it will be a huge radio hit if given the chance. I highly recommend this CD, not just for rock fans but for American Idol fans as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock Lives! Its Name is Betty!, May 14, 2005

This debut album from Pray for the Soul of Betty is a rock reawakening for modern music. Edgy, raw, blistering rhythms accompany poetic intelligent lyrics, which Maroulis's versatile vocals do more than justice.
These four talented musicians come together to produce a project that shows a definite respect for their elders of classic rock, while infusing their own modern sound and character there within.
It's a must-have for a fan of rock, classic and modern.
I look forward to seeing a slew of follow-up albums by this intense and dignified ensemble.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pray for the Soul of Betty, May 16, 2005

Rock the way it should be: hard edged, intelligent and gripping. The songs, all written by Constantine and the band, are surprising. This CD is laced with intricate and outstanding vocals while driving hard to the beat of NY Rock! A big part of the appeal are the words to the music. They are not repetitive but written with a purpose and preformed masterfully. I quite simply love it.
"Cry" is polished and sure to top the charts.
"Suicide" is so different from any other song dealing with the subject that it haunts you with a hard edge.
"Some of my freaked Up World" is a one of a kind track that draws you in.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was astonished..., May 30, 2005
This review is from: Pray For The Soul of Betty (Clean) (Audio CD)
I became a Constantine fan through seeing him on American Idol. However when I heard that his band was more on the hard-rock side I was a bit skeptical. I mean I usually listen to stuff like Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, and even Sarah McLachlan - would I like this one? Well - PFTSOB has been perpetually stuck in my car stereo since I bought it, so I guess the answer is yes! Usually when I buy a CD there are 2-3 songs on it that I like & the rest I sorta skip over. But of the 10 tracks on this there are only 2 I don't really care for. This is the perfect CD to jam in your stereo system for a road trip. A lot of the songs like "Drift", "Cut the Cord" and "the Day" have catchy driving beats. "Truck Stop Sally" is a fun song that tells a story. "Some of my *****d up World" combines a driving main beat, but also a nice part where they slow it down. And "Cry" is a catchy song that really brings out Constantine's unique voice - again love the slow part he does on it. These guys don't even have a record company backing them at the moment & they've done a good job with this first album. Glad I got my Betty!

5.0 out of 5 stars CONSTANTINE HOTTER THAN THE FOURTH OF JULY!!, May 10, 2005
This review is from: Pray For The Soul of Betty (Clean) (Audio CD)
And then some. If you thought that Constantine couldn't get any hotter and sensual than his appearances on Idol, you are in for a pleasant surprise. This CD, is dark, moody and sensual. Just like our hero (Constantine). The Greek god delivers on all fronts.

My favorites thus far are, "Cry" and "Truck Stop Sally." They are scorching hot. Our hero gives out some very nice primal groans in "Sally." Loved them!

Although each song is different than the next....very rocking album. If you are a fan of Constantine's style from American Idol, you will be disappointed.

If you are a fan of old Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, or Nirvana....it is more up your alley. I am not saying the band is anything like any of these groups but, they sound like they have been influenced by them. Maybe a little Rage Against the Machines too. Vocally in some songs....Robert Plant. This group is hard to typecast....and that is a good thing!!!
