5.0 out of 5 stars If you love rock and roll...you need Betty!
From the first track to the last, this cd is packed with honest, original rock and roll. Constantine Maroulis classic rock vocals will remind you of traditional rock but with a fresh edge that can not be denied. A must have for anyone who loves rock. There is only one problem with this cd....there is no matching video to go with it...yet!

1.0 out of 5 stars Pray for the freedom of Constantine
While I did enjoy Cry and Drift, the rest of the album is just average.
Constantine Maroulis is a much better singer than this lack luster album shows. The quality only enforces the belief of some, that the band rushed this project while constantine was on the show. They knew the bus was leaving without them. And Koch was more than willing to cash in with them...

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Very Good!, May 11, 2005

My Constantine! What have you been doing before American Idol?
Obviously being more creative than 19 Entertainment has ever been!
Surprisingly very good!

I never give 5 stars, there is very little perfection in the world!

This CD had every reason for me to listen to it a couple times and for me to dump it into one of my CD storage cases! That will not be the case!

I thought that with the production probably being less than $1000 that I would think it was too rough. That was not the case, and where it is rough around the edges, I like! If this is what they can put out at low budget, I can't wait to hear a high budget one!

I thought I would hate Con's voice because I was used to AI! Not the case, what made him famous on AI was his many voices. This CD is loaded with many more voices of the Con Man with tracks that highlight what people had heard on AI! I was wondering if there were more than one vocalists in the band! Ai fans will love his vocals in Cry and Some Of My F*ckd Up World!

Songs that are easily musically to digest and geared for airplay are Drift, Cry and Truck Stop Sally! Surprisingly these are not my favorite tracks! I am awed by Rich B*tch, Some of My F*ckd Up World & Suicide!

Strengths: Very creative Rock with searing guitar and bass and powerful drums! Very strong and diverse vocals!
Weaknesses: The CD Cover is pretty plain!

I recommend!!

5.0 out of 5 stars SIZZLING HOT! Constantine "Rocks" My World.., May 10, 2005

OMG! If you thought Constantine was sensual and sexy on idol, this cd is going to make you sweat--if you're human, that is). Constantines vocals on this CD are as sensual and hynotic as his patented stares. This is a moody and sensual ride. It ain't for the faint of heart.

My favorite so far is "Cry." Con takes us on a sensual up and down...up and down (catch my drift - tee hee) roller coaster ride.

If you are not a hard rock fan, fear not. While the themes of some of these songs are dark and moody, I wouldn't call it hard rock. I don't like hard rock. Never have. But I luuuuv this cd. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars I was ready to hate it... but it's surprisingly good!, May 11, 2005
This review is from: Pray for the Soul of Betty (Audio CD)
I was all set to hate this CD, not being a fan of hard rock. But surprise, surprise, it was actually good. The best way I can describe it is that it sounds very Generation-X... like a soundtrack to REALITY BITES.

Cry and Truck Stop Sally are my favorites.

I was so impressed with Constantine Maroulis on American Idol that I had to buy this CD. I am not normally a fan of hard rock, but this CD is awesome. I can't believe this is the band's first CD. They sound like they've been around for a long time. My favorite tracks are "Cry" and "Truck Stop Sally" but they are all really good. I highly recommend this CD. I guarantee you won' be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense Raw Energy!, May 10, 2005
This review is from: Pray for the Soul of Betty (Audio CD)
I give this CD 5 stars. The band has a very unique raw sound. I honestly have not liked a band this much in years. I listen to the CD all the time and never get sick of it. As opposed to some CD's purchased where I only like one song, I like every song on this CD. If you like rock music, you will love this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars PFTSOB ROCKS!, May 10, 2005

This review is from: Pray for the Soul of Betty (Audio CD)
This CD has easily made it in to my top 10 of the past 5 years. Betty played at a club I go to a lot here twice last year and were awesome. This CD didn't let me down. I haven't actually written a review since my sad sad pop phase, but let's try a play by play, those are still good right?
1. Drift - Good choice for the release sent to most rock stations. Not one of my favorites, but definitley a good song. The kind of song you'd want to hear at a concert and perfect to blast in your car.
2. Rich B***h - Really interesting song with a chorus that's already stuck in my head. I like it, and it's making a good background soundtrack for stuff I have to do.
3. Truck Stop Sally - Pray For The Soul Of Betty won an award for this song and it's easy to see why. This song is closest to the old rocks songs I loved growing up, and I mean old as in before I was born. This song has great lyrics and sounds wonderful. My second favorite on the CD.
4. Some Of My F****d Up World - Good song, but not as strong as some of the others. One of the ones I listen to, but don't put on repeat. Of course knowing me that just means that a month from now it'll grow on my so much that it's all I listen to, but for now I'll just say that I like it.
5. Cut The Cord - Really good song. Everything about it is good. Definitley one of the best songs on the album to sing along with and play air guitar on.
6. Cry - Oh how I love this song. It's simply wonderful. The lyrics, the vocals, the music, everything. This song needs to be on the charts. Now.
7. ...The Day - Edgy and fun, this song must be listened to at least twice to make sure the full affects are achieved. The song will probably be the most polarizing on the CD. Another one that I like and will even put on repeat, but not a favorite.
8. Suicide - Nice message, and the song rocks. Really makes you wonder what the story is, and once you listen enough times to get the lyrics it'll bob in and out of your head during work or classes. This is the song where you'll be randomly tapping your fingers and then a small part accidently comes out so you bob your head to inner music, aka the lyrics, and then you lose it.
9. Playground - Okay, I'm not sure what this is exactly. It's short though, moving on....
10. Sylvan - Don't even try to learn the lyrics by ear here. Seriously, better minds than ours have already failed to get all of them. I like a lot of songs on the album a lot better than this one, but I don't NOT like it. Every album has to have a couple songs that you play after you're done with your favorites, and this CD is so great that this really good song happens to be one of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who said Constantine wasn't rock??, May 17, 2005
This review is from: Pray for the Soul of Betty (Audio CD)
I have been a Constantine fan from the very beginning of American Idol this year and was VERY disappointed when he was voted off. When I found out his band had been offered a deal, I knew of course they had already cut the album, so I was a little worried it would sound generic.

NOT TRUE! The album is awesome! Buy it, you will not regret it. The album is VERY professional, Constantine AND the band sound great. They also wrote all their music, which makes it even better. If you love hard rock, (not quite metal, but close) YOU WILL LOVE THIS ALBUM!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent honest rock... idol or not!!!, May 16, 2005

This review is from: Pray for the Soul of Betty (Audio CD)
Forget about the fact that Constantine Maroulis was an 'American Idol'. Aside from this fact, this CD really ROCKS! The songs are full of grit, rawness, passion, and honesty, with some excellent guitar riffs! In this day and age of pre-fabricated whiney emo pseudo-punk bands and fabricated no-talent teen pop stars, 'Pray For The Soul Of Betty' is a welcome breath of fresh air. Easily one of the best rock releases of 2005 so far! Get it! I'ts 'the real deal'!

To the '3athos' dufus above that gave this no stars and complained that Con doesn't sound anything like he did on 'American Idol', well DUH!!! Firstly, Constantine is a ROCKER. Secondly, his band, 'Pray For The Soul Of Betty' existed BEFORE 'American Idol' for chrissakes! If you had a grain of logic, you would have realized this before mouthing off. This is an EXCELLENT ROCK release! Maybe you expected 'My Funny Valentine' or 'I Think I Love You' by 'The Partridge Family?! Sheesh!

I thought that Betty could not get any better. After a huge demand,Pray for the Soul of Betty releases their CD, with a new track to the public. What an amazing cd this is. The guitars, the voice, the lyrics. It's just too good to pass up!
