Book Description

February 1, 2007
"Can prayer actually do something to make life different and better?"

Prayer 101 explores this question in different ways. It begins with an invitation by God to pray, demonstrating that God desires to have a dialogue with us. Readers will find themselves in conversation with writers from many perspectives, and ultimately, in conversation with the One who invites prayer. Don Aycock's skillful and friendly style is much like a tour guide, walking readers through the landscape of prayer, concentrating on the highlights. He looks at what pray er is not in order to better understand what it is. Examining several key passages of scripture, Aycock opens them up to discover what prayer does to us and to those around us.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

"It is fresh, it is genuine, it is full of interesting stories, and, above all, it is convincing. It may be called Prayer 101--it is designed for people at the introductory level--but it is obviously written by an expert!"
--John Killinger, author of Winter Soulstice

"Many Christians feel beaten down because of their struggle with prayer. Don Aycock offers an introduction to prayer that is simple and easy to understand. Through it is a basic study, Dr. Aycock takes us deep into the heart of prayer. This brief study leads us to a deeper understanding of what it means to converse with our Lord."
--Randy Davis, pastor, Trinity Baptist Church, Hammond, Louisiana

"Dr. Aycock's book about prayer is always clear and interesting, often moving, and occasionally (believe it or not) funny. It will help you to pray with honesty and in a full biblical and Christian way."
--Fisher Humphreys, Beeson Divinity School, Samford University

I am excited to recommend this book to those attending my Direction: Discernment for the Decisions of Your Life retreats and day seminars, for we are all called to be people of prayer. Don Aycock equips us to answer that call with Prayer 101. Don't let the title lead you to miss the depth of this book. Don is obviously a man of prayer.
