I was absolutely amazed at the level of sophistication and honesty which can be found in Dennis Kucinich's eloquent speeches. I never imagined I would ever encounter a politician with so much integrity, humanity and wisdom. His words are inspiring and eloquent and best of all empowering. He is teaching America not to give in to fear and not to resign ourselves to the corporate domanance of our civil institutions and government. Long before anyone else was speaking out against this administration Kucincich was loudly rejecting the entire premise of preemptive attack, the patriot act and the blood thirsty arrogance of the neo-con junta. Particularly in the speech "Prayer For America" which every person in this country should not only read but see on video. This speech was given a relatively short time after 9-11 when dissent in the country was almost non-existant. It made him an overnight hero not just of the progressive left but of all those who could see through the lies and deceptions being peddled to us not just by the White House but by every major news outlet in the country including the not so liberal NY times. Kucinich is even more outspoken than the Nation who actually published the book. If they don't want to loose their entire readership I suggest they endorse him officially. they are after all supposed to be left of the democratic party. To be true to the position they have carved out for themselves they should have endorsed him a long time ago. This has made a lot of people question The Nation's integrity despite their involvement with this book. This man is clearly going to become president of this country and will probobly be one of the best we have ever had. It's time the people of this country started to realize it.

These essays and speeches by Representative Dennis Kucinich provide an introduction to his spiritual message to the American people and to the programs he is recommending for future government actions. Read this book if hope that America can once again have a government that can't be bought. Unlike 96 US Senators, the author had the courage to turn down corporate PAC money and vote against H-1b(the visa program that has displaced hundreds of thousands of tech workers since 1998).

Kucinich has big vision, big integrity and a big following among those who believe it's time for us humans to put down our old ways and seek a newer world. He is not just a political candidate, but the point person in a movement that is growing moment by moment. I highly recommend this book, it's a tonic for weary Americans who are sick of being seen as the world's bully.

A Prayer for America returned me to a certain faith that we can, as a nation and a people, live out the principles of freedom, justice, and equality so dear to our country and so fundamentally important to this world. Kucinich, more than any other Democratic candidate, is in touch with the soul of this nation. A Prayer for America clearly articulates Kucinich's political platform, from his support for a revolution in the public education system to his efforts to reform and redefine our deeply flawed foreign policy to his commitment to provide every American with a clean environment, free healthcare, and fair wages. Overall, a grand education, both informative and inspiring. The best $10 I ever spent!

Sure - a book of speeches? Yes this is a book of speeches given by Cong. Kucinich. The speeches will give the reader a great understanding of this candidate, a great understanding of his vision, and a hope for America. The media and pundits aren't giving Kucinich his due. This book will give everyone an opportunity to see who this candidate really is and what he stands for. I highly recommend it. Even if you will vote for someone else, read this book and think about what this nation could become. Dream the possible - a world of peace.

KUCINICH IS NUMBER ONE!!!!! (I've met him twice and the second time I met him, he remembered my name from over 4 months before!!!) This is the most brilliant guy in politics. Re-defeat Bush 2004 with the boy mayor, champion of all Americans, Dennis Kucinich!!!!! BUY THIS BOOK TO MAKE DENNIS NUMBER ONE ON AMAZON!!!!!!!

I totally disagree with the review by Publisher's Weekly. This book is not intended to be flowing novel reading. It is a book of public speeches given by Congressman Kucinich at various times and places. The speeches themselves are spiritually inspiring and leave the reader with renewed interest and trust in the American political system. I find these speeches both practical and poetic and feel that anyone, whether a "fan" of Congressman Kucinich or not, will finish the readings with a renewed sense of hope and inspiration.
