Book Description

October 1, 1990 Anglican Liturgy in America
The two volumes of Prayer Book Parallels are aids to the study of the development of the American book from as many points of view as possible. They include liturgical texts and related historical documents. Volume One contains the texts of the public services of the American Church arranged in parallel columns--from the colonial period to the present--to enable comparative study. The two volumes are of great value to seminarians, clergy, church historians, and anyone interested in the development of the present Prayer Book. (702 pp)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Standard, April 4, 2000
This review is from: Prayer Book Parallels: The Public Services of the Church Arranged for Comparative Study (Anglican Liturgy in America, V. 1) (Paperback)
This book is the definitive standard of careful analysis in liturgical research. Presented in parallel columns, comparison among the various editions of the American Book of Common Prayer is made simple and rewarding. Seeing the texts in a reproduction of their published typographies is a delight. This book is a vital reference, especially handy for all priests, but valuable for anyone who loves the Prayer Book. The addition of notes on the liturgical reform process make the book complete as well as enjoyably informative.
