This is a terrific book. Janet McHenry knows from what she writes and uses her real life examples of raising her own teens and teaching teenagers in her writing. From the first pages, where she describes that awful feeling when you first realize your child is not behaving the way you thought he was, to the real, concrete, useful suggestions on how to handle all kinds of situations (drugs, dating, lying, dress, etc.) this book hits the mark. Not to be trite, but I laughed, I cried...and I prayed. The suggestions for prayer are real, and from the gut. It is a book you can buy by the dozen and hand them out to all your friends and they will be enternally grateful. It is that good, and that useful. Here is the answer to "but what can you do?" about your children. Thank you, Janet.

Within two days of getting Janet's book, I had recommended it to four other moms of teens. Consider buying two copies--one to read and digest, and one to share. Janet honestly addresses the big and little issues of parenting adolescents with the simple yet profound tool of prayer. Don't skip over the scriptures given with each suggested prayer. Pray them back to God for your own teens.

The best parts of this excellent and supportive book are the practical prayers in each chapter. You can go straight to God with your concerns over every area of your teen's life--from friendships to food issues, from dating to dressing, from homework to housekeeping! The author is an experienced parent of teens, making this book a must for any parent who has ever hrown up his or her hands in despair. Not ony will you receive helpful answers but spiritual comfort and counsel, as well.

If you find parenting a challenge, you'll value the ease of reading Janet Holm McHenry's great book, Prayer Changes Teens. Janet makes it easy to build new habits of prayer by offering anecdotes, specific prayers, scripture, and great thought questions on a wide variety of topics that face our teens and that are often in our faces as well! Too many of us want to control our teens (where do we ever get the idea that we can really do this!?!)when the truest and best control is in our Father's hands. Repeatedly and with humor, Janet reminds us to entrust our children to God's care, and then to pray with the confidence that God is meeting their needs in alignment with his will for their lives. Prayer Changes Teens serves as a reminder to pray, as a confidence builder for effective prayer, and as an encouragement that through prayer, God's will is done.

PRAYER CHANGES TEENS has humor, real stories, sample prayers, and practical ideas. It is true encouragement for parents and covers the gamet of issues in raising teens today. I highly recommend this book both for its content and well written style. It is an excellent investment for parents wanting to understand their teen and improve the in-home relationship. The book would also be a great small group study book or resource for youth ministers. -Brenda Nixon, M.A. speaker and author of Parenting Power in the Early Years

I was over joyed to find books from Janet Holms McHenry. She was my highschool English teacher and most of her storys are written about events that happened to the kids from my home town and her children. Reading her books, for me is like lookng into my past and pulling out some of my favorite times. I strongly reccoment Mrs. Mchenry's books to anyone who can read. If you can't read find someone who can and have them read her books to you, they are that good. This particular book mostly had to do with her two oldest children Justin and Rebecca. Having grown up with both of them and having gone to school with both of them I can picture and remember each of the events written about with a real clearity. However, Mrs. McHenry writes with such a passion that by the end of this book each reader will feel a very poeersonal connection with both of her children weather they had ever met them or not. The physical quality of the product was outstanding, very well taken care of.
