Prayer for Compassion is David Darling's CD from the heart. For me, to date, this is his legacy collection, pulling together his musical genius of a life time of improvisation and composition. It is a compilation of pieces full of the soul, reflecting David's dream to end the ugliness on earth by abolishing war, poverty and replacing it with love for all living things. This music is beautifully lyrical filled with gorgeous harmonies. David's cello sings to us, cries to us, and relaxes in the most profound of ways. This CD is a melt your heart masterpiece, and I rate it with more stars than there are in the heavens! Reviewed by Lee Berentsen (Pianist/Composer)

Having first heard "Eight String Religion" about ten years ago and after subsequently searching out all of Darling's other pieces, I was eagerly anticipating his next work. "Prayer For Compassion" does not disappoint. It contains all the expected humanistic, warm tonalities and wonderful tuneful passages one would expect from his work.
Thanks much Mr. Darling, for another comforting and joyful collection of music.

I have been a fan of David Darling's music for several years now, and "Prayer For Compassion" is his best artistic expression yet. I cannot recall a title that is more of a perfect match for the feelings this music evokes. It is soulful, it is mystical, and it is in-spiritedly muse-ical.

This cd is a gem, a true masterpiece by the master cellist and wonderful humanist David Darling. The music is so richly textured and complex, I have played it's tracks at least a dozen times and each time hear something new! It also really cuts accross the traditional division in music genres, appealing to world beat, jazz, european classical & new age music lovers. (All my freinds I've given it to as a gift have loved it.) Bravo!!

Prayer for Compassion is the most beautiful collection of music that I own. It paints a heartbreaking picture of tenderness, beauty, love, devotion, and -- of course -- compassion. What a masterpiece!

David Darling is my personal friend and classmate! This "Prayer for Compassion" CD won this year's Grammy for New Age Music!
