I was so excited to get this book !! I read it and it was easy to understand, but it really doesn't tell you how to slove financial situations at all. Very limited scripture. This book was more like and autobiography than a teaching book. He plugged his business more than anything else, especially toward the last couple of pages. I've read much better books on finances than this one. The good thing about this book is the prayer for SALVATION !!

This is what the book should be called. Ambrose Bierce's criticisms, such as "The covers of this book are too wide apart," and "A short story padded" also come to mind.

This individual is hardly "humble," lots of "I I I" and "Me Me Me" here. He could have drawn from the stories of others, but does not, all he does is brag, brag, brag. At the end he tells you how to pray, his way, but before he does he tells you about his company, christianmoney dot com, and how you can write ebooks FOR HIM. Well, I went to his site, and for a measly $99 he'll send you four DVDs on how to get into ebooks. For an additional $7.95 a month he'll mentor you. Well, the DVDs NEVER arrived, and as to "mentoring," he never does. It was after threatening to report his organization to the FCC that I am to be sent (have not received yet) a refund for my $99, but NOT for the additional $7.95.

This bird has been in legal trouble before, but has not learned. It is "Christians" such as Paris that add ammo to the anti-Christian crowd.

BTW, I am FORCED to rate this at least one star. Should be a BLACK HOLE.

After two years of cancer and surgeries and radiation and chemo, this title was a natural to capture my attention. Jim is no theoretical theologian but a man who transparently and effectively shares how God has worked in his life and how He can work in everyone's life. A practical book with some solid insights and workable material, Jim does all of us a favor by sharing his journey. A book for our times and a highly recommended read for everyone who wants their life to be in consonant with God's plan for them,

I love to read memoirs, particularly when they happen to be about someone I know. I don't know Jim but have been friends with his wife since 7th grade. I knew they had encountered some very difficult financial times, and this book really told the story well. The title is a bit misleading - sounds as if there is a one-two-three formula that will VOILA! get you some money now. Instead, it is an honest look into someone's life and a realistic method of turning your financial worries over to God.

Heard James interviewed on late night radio. Even though I was somewhat skeptical (could he be a prosperity Christian?), I
ordered the book. I'm retired, but I learned some important things about my walk with the Lord by reading Jim's book.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I had never really thought of praying for money or financial success. But this book gave me a new perspective. I was fascinated with James L. Paris, especially his life story and the creative way he tells it. What spoke to me more than anything else is the way he was able to pick up, move on, and create a better life for himself and his family.

Because of the title I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book. It was very insightful and showed the depth of the author's heart while writing this book. He unveils some very personal, tragic experiences. This is practical advice and while it does deal with praying for a financial miracle to some degree it is so much more than that. This is really worth your time if you're wanting some encouragement and sound advice on how to deal with being in a tough situation.

I highly recommend this book.

It is:

1) Easy to read; not a lot of erudite financial terms
2) Easy to follow his thought process
3) Filled with anecdotes
4) Believable
5) Entertaining
6) Backed by scripture
7) A quick read
8) Riveting -- that is, if you have ever faced really serious financial issues
9) Relevant

10) And this is why I'm not giving it five stars: It is in serious need of a go-over by a competent editor. Sorry, Jim. Your business partner Bob Yetman may know money, but he is not an editor. The editorial problems in this book are like sitting in the front pew listening to your favorite evangelical speaker, but throughout the entire sermon his fly is open. When the sermon's over--no matter how enlightening--all you remember is the squirm factor.
