Book Description

November 6, 2006
***UPDATE AS OF MARCH 2010*** Dr. Richards has uncovered possible evidence that A Method of Prayer was not written by Johannes Kelpius. A Method of Prayer remains a beautiful and inspiring work, and the background information on the content and publishing history in Dr. Richards' book remain accurate. However, the portions involving Kelpius as the author may no longer have relevance. The evidence is still inconclusive as Dr. Richards continues to pursue this fascinating research. His book includes the text of the German pamphlet that was printed in 1756, a glossary, background essays, and the only translation into modern English.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Dr. Richards' translation has achieved something extraordinary. He has not only brought an important 18th century mystical document into modern, accessible English, but also preserved the essence and spirit of the the original. His accompanying notes are nothing less than invaluable. -- Jonathan D. Scott, author of The Woman in the Wilderness: Inside the Mystery of America's First Mystics
