This musical version of the Prayer of St Francis plays for 1:56 and ends in silence. It is perfect for looping during a contemplative time. Sarah Maclachlan's voice is smooth, peaceful, and relaxed allowing the listener to come to presence with each commitment of the prayer.

Here is a song you can listen to, when the world seems wrong. A song of hope, when you can't see it near by. A prayer to hold fast to, and not let go of. Comfort when we feel the pain. thank God there is such a song to hear from someone who has a gift to sing and share it. wish it was playing forever long....

This song got me through a deployment in Iraq,

I first heard this song at the end of the episode "Grave," the last episode of Season 6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I didn't know what it was about the song that caught hold of me when I was deployed. Now I know. It's a prayer, and that is exactly what I needed 7,000 miles from home in the desert. The lyric that set me weeping then and still does is "It's in dying that we are born to eternal life." I was a combat medic in Iraq, so I was close to the dead and the dying a lot. This song helped keep me together. Brava, Sarah!

I first heard this song at the end of the 6th season finale episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and have been looking for Sarah McLachlan's version ever since. Great to see that this has been released on an album so others can enjoy it too!
