My granddaughter and her friends (all home-schooled) requested help with a project they are starting - making quilts for cancer patients in the hospital. Feeling that making full sized quilts would limit the number we could make in a short period of time we came up with the idea of Prayer Shawl quilts. We were quite pleased to find a book specifically for this purpose. "Prayer Shawl Quilts" is nicely photographed but disappointing in that only one quilt is actually a "shawl" (and quite complicated to make) and the rest are merely lap quilts - which we could have quite easily adapted from full size patterns. We are going to try to adapt the "shawl" to a simpler pattern and see what we come up with. One of the lap quilts is quite nice - designed especially for a man(which is seldom the case). Not quite what we expected from the title of the book.

It is wonderful to be able to make shawls for shut-ins or for the recently ill. A personal gift is truly wonderful, especially when handmade.

I am very pleased with this book. The patterns are beautiful and just what I was looking for. An unexpected pleasure was the pattern for a wedding. I am planning on making it for a special anniversary present for my nephew and his bride!

This book says Prayer Shawl Quilts.... I looked for the shawls.....I see the only one in the book and think to myself .....Wow! That looks just like a table runner.... and on the next page.... IT IS! So if you want a table runner that you can use as a shawl, this book is for you.
I can get simple quilt patterns any where. What I needed was shawl patterns.

This book has great patterns for shawls. Our church has a prayer shawl ministry and I have loaned this out to several people who also quilt.

Vwey nice book with color pictures, directions were simple to use, if you take your time and really read them. I made a flannel quilt from this book. There are a few other pieces I would like to try in the future. I would buy again.

This book had quite a little information in it, the how's, why's, and the meaning of these special quilts. Was very interesting.
