5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gift for New and Old Muslims Alike :), January 10, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Prayers of the Last Prophet (Audio CD)
This is a truly wonderful CD for both Muslims and those interested in Islam. As a new Muslim, I especially appreciated the Quranic recitation--as I could listen to it and work on my pronunciation. Ten different (I think) surahs are recited including Surah Al-Fatihah, al-Baqarah, al-Imran, al-Shuara, al-Takathur, al-Furqan, and al Ahzab. It also includes lots of different prayers including Istikhara, prayers before eating, etc.

Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens--think Wild World and Harold & Maude) does the narration, reading of the translation, as well as a few songs. The Quranic recitation is done by Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Alhousari.

The songs are great! (Love to see an album of simply Islamic songs!) My favorite is "If You Ask Me."

One criticism--I wish the CD-booklet included the transliteration (Arabic) and English for all of the different prayers.

If you're just starting to explore Islam--there are many great websites out there. I also highly recommend the book "Daughters of Another Path."

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars!, December 18, 2000
This review is from: Prayers of the Last Prophet (Audio CD)
Anything less for a truely gifted man? Masha Allah. Extremely beautifully, and entertaining for the heart. All songs are accompanied by children, or other heartfelt men who sing soley for Allah. There are no musical instruments, only the lovely voices.

The dua's are a tremendous blessing, both with a clear, Arabic voice, for easy memorization, and with Sidi Yusef's voice serving for the English translation. Definatley worth memorizing for all occasions.

The Quran is beautiful said in both the Arabic and English language. The CD offers you the ability to record what you would like, so you can make a complete tape of songs, or dua. Make the PERFECT gift, or wonderful for any traffic time, spending time with Allah and those who are lovers are Allah, what a benifit!

5.0 out of 5 stars A collection of the Prophet's prayers, December 12, 2003
By

(REAL NAME)
Prayers of the Last Prophet is a very useful collection of some of the prophet Muhammed's, peace be upon him, daily prayers.

The most notable prayers he would recite during the morning hours, afternoon hours, evening time and before sleep. Yusuf Islam presents these prayers in English and they are translated in Arabic.

I recommend this CD to all Muslims as well as non-Muslims who want to learn about Islam and the humbleness and piety of the last messenger to humanity who was granted the last message from God almighty, peace be upon Muhammed.

I highly suggest you obtain a copy of "Life of the Last Prophet" along with this one.

A+

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful CD, October 29, 1999
This review is from: Prayers of the Last Prophet (Audio CD)
This CD is wonderful. I brought it to Mosque Friday and the children listened to some of it before the Imam started talking. It is very good for children and new Muslims like myself. If you have any other questions about it then e-mail me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Words and Songs of Comfort and Peace, September 19, 2001

I don't pretend to be Muslim though I've read the Koran, Dawood translation (Penguin) two and three times over. This CD is a production of Mountain of Light, based in London. Yusuf Islam, formerly, Cat Stevens, is more than a narrator, he is a translator. The album is divided into the following segments: Prayers, Night, Dawn, Day, and Evening. Given the events of 9/11/01, I shall not speak of "light to my left, to my right, in front of me, behind me, above me, below me", but I shall share the following prayer so beautifully translated and delivered:

The Prayer: Ayat Al-Kursi

On the authority of Anas -
May Allah be pleased with him who said:

I heard the message of Allah, [arabic words]
May the blessings of peace of Allah be upon him, say -

Allah the almighty has said:

Oh son of Adam,
so long as you call upon me, and ask of me,
I shall forgive you for what you have done,
and I shall not mind.

Oh son of Adam,
were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky,
and were you then to ask forgiveness of me
I would forgive you.

Oh son of Adam,
Were you to come to me with sins nearly as great as the earth,
and were you then to face me, ascribing no partner to me,
I would bring you forgiveness
as close to it in measure.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is a very valuable album with prayers for everyday life., October 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Prayers of the Last Prophet (Audio CD)
This album has beautiful Quran recitation and adthan in addition to valuable everyday prayers. Also, the last song on the album is awesome. It is done with sincerity and determination. While the information may seem elementary to most Muslims, it is worth having these duas on album.

This cd's value is impossible to price. The years it Insha'Allah keeps the listener out of Hell Fire is worth every penny you spend on it. Not only is it valuable to Muslims, but non-Muslims, can clearly experience, through the audio and the reaction in your bones, the light of this religion of Truth, Islam. Great to listen to with your family or burn and lend to your non-Muslim friends as Dawah so that all can benefit from this thorough and widely encompassing album. I can not say enough good things about this cd. I also recommend purchasing Life of the Last Prophet along with this as it is also well worth the money.
