Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Recognizing how deeply children identify with the natural world, Cameron has written a collection of prayers that speak to the gods of wildlife, such as "the Lord of the Sheep," and "a prayer to Brother Snake." Since Cameron also knows how much children enjoy and retain lyrical language, she has set each prayer to rhyme.

The prayers ask for guidance in deep spiritual matters, yet they always stay grounded in children's language. For example, in her "Prayer for Intuition," Cameron writes

... God of Gentle Brown-Eyed Doe
Help me know the things I know.
Let me know the gentle grace
To sense the world and know my place....

Children will appreciate the child-oriented topics as well as the implicit respect for all living creatures in these prayers.
