5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful book to keep by the bedside, May 28, 2000
By A Customer
Having a bad day? There is probably something here to make it better.

Edward Hays has a great understanding of the nature of man, and the many situations we come up against which challenge us everyday. He has a unique ability to bring one back to the spiritual path....in a loving, non-judgmental way. He is very encouraging in the spiritual pursuits, and has very practical advice on how to walk the path. The "poems" are great...and a few are literally "dog-eared" in my book.

He fosters a sense of "community" among all who seek something beyond our mundane world...something which is worth our efforts to find.

Best of all.....he communicates his message with a feeling of love for all his fellow "pilgrims".

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful guide for Morning and Evening Prayer and much more, November 27, 1998
By A Customer
This is an excellent book to help nourish your spirit. If you have used the Office of the Hours or have not found success with it, this book provides a refreshing adaption to Morning and Evening prayer that is meaningful to rhythm of your life and body.

Plus it has prayers for hundreds of other occasions...many the simplest things in life one often overlooks. Hays turns the ordinary into the extraordinary and holy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Something for Every Occasion, March 24, 2000
By
Pamela D. Brewer (Crystal Springs, MS USA) - See all my reviews
Along with Prayers for the Domestic Church, this book has become a handbook for me. There is a prayer (I call them prayer poems) for almost every life occasion and they are filled with beauty. Fr. Hays celebrates the awesome moments and reminds us that the seemingly mundane is also filled with wonder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent is all I can say!, July 5, 2010

This review is from: Prayers for a Planetary Pilgrim: A Personal Manual for Prayer and Ritual (Paperback)
This book is a contemporary book of common prayer. It uses images and words from our time, especially as we see ourselves as world travelers! I give it five stars and have been using it from the day I got it. It offers insight into the word of prayer and ritual in its later chapters and teaches one how to set up their prayer space, as well as use the book creatively. It rocks.

5.0 out of 5 stars An anthology of prayers and other spiritual rituals not specific to any one religion, July 10, 2008
This review is from: Prayers for a Planetary Pilgrim: A Personal Manual for Prayer and Ritual (Paperback)
Prayer is an act that can be selfish or charitable. "Prayers for a Planetary Pilgrim: A Personal Manual for Prayer and Ritual" is an anthology of prayers and other spiritual rituals not specific to any one religion, focusing solely on the spiritual aspects of all religions and how their followers connect with them. Suggesting that readers pray for all people instead of solely for themselves and their family, "Prayers for a Planetary Pilgrim" is an ideal gift for anyone cultivating their spiritual side. Highly recommended for community library spirituality collections.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prayers for planetary pilgrim, April 28, 2008
This is not just an ordinary book, but a book of life that gives me guidance on how to be a "good" pilgrim. I use this book daily to keep in contact with the source of life-- Jesus Christ. This is a holistic prayer guide that enables me to pray for others also.

A good friend gave me a copy of this 10 years ago. As this has helped me, I purchased 2 copies for my friends so this can boost their lives also-- the way it has guided me in my journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daily prayer guide for the past 15 years, October 11, 2007

This book has always made it back to the top of my book pile on my night stand -- for the past 15 years. It presents a deeply spiritual approach to prayer with pauses for silent prayer and meditation. I especially like the prayers by time of day, day of the week and season of the year. There are prayers for different life transitions and for different moods. I like the focus on nature and on the vastness of the universe as witnessed by contemplating outer space. I am a spirit having a human experience. In this way, I can relate to the concept of a planetary pilgrim. I feel as though my life is a pilgrimage. And my life itself is continuous prayer of gratitude. This book supports me in this perspective. I am grateful for having found this book. It has enriched my prayer life beyond measure.

This review is from: Prayers for a Planetary Pilgrim: A Personal Manual for Prayer and Ritual (Paperback)
This is just the book I was looking for. I randomly open it or check the contents for the prayer I'm looking for. I particularly appreciate the Morning and Night prayers within the context of seasons. I would recommend the book to anyone looking for a contemporary expression of praise and appreciation.
