I also found the questions “for reflection or discussion” to be very thought provoking.

I have 2 boys, actually I have 2 teenagers, and I worried it was too late for me to pray over them but this book has given me the tools to do just this. Even if your sons are young men or as Ms. McGlothlin calls them, "grown-up boys" it is not too late!
Praying for Boys, is easy and entertaining to read and makes praying over your son virtually fool proof.
Brooke McGlothlin's insights and revelations encourage me and give me hope that I can do this, it also, gives me a road map to diligently pray for my sons. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has boys.

Boys? God just so happened to of blessed me with two of these amazing little creatures and ever since their birth, I've spent most of my time trying to figure out what makes them tick, and how their minds work. Let me just tell you, there have been plenty of instances where I've thrown up my hands in frustration, fretted over some of the decisions they've made, and worried to no end as to who and what these sons of mine will become.

And after picking up this book, it appears I'm not alone. Phew!

But, "Praying for Boys," by author, Brooke McGlothlin does so much more than just relate to the plight we're going through--it teaches us how to pray for our sons by asking God for the things they need most. This book beautifully demonstrates how covering our boys from head to toe in prayer can indeed soothe our mama hearts, ease our frustrations, clear our confusion, and extinguish our worry as well. With her encouraging and oh-so-relatable voice to help guide your steps, Brooke equips each of us moms with the knowledge that no matter how hard raising these young men might be, or no matter what gets flung our way, God's most definitely in control.

And that a praying mama is never powerless.

If you have a son (or one on the way), purchase this book and allow Brooke's words to bless you.

Brooke McGlothlin has done it again! Cut to the chase and straight to the heart. I have been fully convicted, and completely encouraged to wage war on my knees on behalf of my children. The Lord is using this book mightily in my life to draw me closer to Himself. One of the best books I have read in a very long time. If you have children, you need this book!

Do you have young sons? This book may inspire you to pray for them in distinctive ways! The book Praying for Boys by Brooke McGlothlin is subtitled Asking God for the Things They Need Most. The author reminds us that boys are different than girls in many ways and encourages moms to celebrate their spirits.

The book is a series of short chapters--2 or 3 pages, then a series of Scriptures with a _________ for your son's name to help you pray Scripture for your son. The chapters end with questions "for reflection or discussion."

I think that anything that encourages/reminds you to pray for your children is a good reminder! I do have a son, and he is definitely unique from his sisters and stretches us all in certain ways ;) and enhances our family life for sure!

The author of this book has two sons, aged 7 and 5. I think her prayer suggestions and discussion topics and ideas that she covers are sweet and valid.

The book seems geared toward moms of younger kids (which makes sense I suppose, good prayer habits should begin early!) I have a son who is a young teen--I think many of the narratives in this book are a bit simplistic at this point for us. However, the Scriptures are a great thing to refer to and use, for example, "May ________________ taste the goodness of your Word (Hebrews 6:5)" I think that these were the most valuable part of the book for me. If I had younger kids, I'd probably appreciate this book a little more.

The book would be great for a small group or Bible study of moms of young boys.

I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers for the purpose of this review. I was not required to write a positive review.

Raising a boy is not an easy task. You want to protect them, but at the same time give them room to run. This book shares good insights on praying for our sons...and why it's so important.

When I like a book, I mark a few quotes here and there, when I really like a book I turn down the pages to mark whole sections, and when I love a book it ends up a worn and weary mess with turned down pages, highlighters, pencil marks and maybe even a few food stains. I really loved Brooke McGlothlin's book, Praying for Boys, and after just one quick read my copy already looks like I've carried it through a battle zone. That's okay. I intend to do just that.

I've been praying for my kids diligently for years, using books and my own way of praying through Scripture to commit them to God. But after having three daughters, I gave birth to a baby boy just a few months ago and Brooke McGlothlin is giving me a whole new way to pray specifically for him. She proposes using focused and determined prayers in the battle for boys' hearts and minds.

The book itself is short with quick and easy to read chapters. She begins with a call to prayer, why, how, and when to pray. In response to specific questions she's received on her blog (The M.O.B. Society), she even includes a chapter of encouragement and tips for those parenting alone. Following that, McGlothlin offers 21 prayer points for sons, including praying for their salvation, integrity, honor, and each of the fruits of the spirit.

The book can be read in one sitting (like I did last night), but then it can be used as a constant companion to prayer. The prayers are extremely short (one sentence long, maybe, and usually personalizing a Scripture verse in the process). That means I could use them all day, every day, in any way I can imagine. I could post a few up around my house and pray whenever I see them.
