Book Description

April 1, 2000
How do Christians learn to practice 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5, "tearing down strongholds by captivating our minds with the knowledge of God?" Beth Moore teaches that to be set free from each and every stronghold which claims our lives, we have to replace it with the mind of Christ and fervent daily prayer.

Praying God's Word is a topical prayer guide addressing fourteen strongholds and what Scripture reveals about each issue. The Scriptures are presented in prayer form to be incorporated into the daily prayer life as a way of letting God's Word, through prayer, help you overcome the strongholds of bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, and other areas as well.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Popular speaker and bestselling author Beth Moore writes that one of the purposes of Praying God's Word: Breaking Free from Spiritual Strongholds is to help readers "downsize anything that has a hold on you," including pride, addiction, depression, and lack of forgiveness. This is no name-it-and-claim-it book; rather, it's a thoughtful guide for structured prayer, using the Bible as the framework to build upon. She invites readers to demolish their particular strongholds with "two sticks of dynamite: scripture and prayer," and gives both those new to prayer and seasoned prayer veterans the ability to do so. Chapters are arranged topically, and there are blank pages included for personalized prayers on each subject. To emphasize her points, Moore also scatters nuggets of wisdom throughout the text from writers such as Jim Cymbala, Kay Arthur, Charles Spurgeon, and Francis Frangipane. Even when the "stronghold" has been demolished, Moore urges readers to continue to pray God's Word for general maintenance purposes. It's a message that has found a tremendous amount of resonance with readers for its life-changing potential. --Cindy Crosby

5.0 out of 5 stars Praying God's Word: Breaking Free From Spiritual Strongholds, April 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Praying God's Word: Breaking Free From Spiritual Strongholds (Hardcover)
Whether you are a new Christian or someone who has a commited relationship to the Lord, you will find this book helpful. Although Beth Moore is the human author listed on the book cover, she is only God's messenger, these prayers originated with Him. It doesn't matter whether you think you have strongholds in your life or not, you will find this book a wonderful companion to your Bible. I have already given 4 of these books as gifts to hurting friends...I recommend this for ladies or gentlemen. If you have taken Beth Moore's study, Breaking Free, this book will be great followup to that powerful experience!

5.0 out of 5 stars Praying God's Word says it all!, March 4, 2001

This review is from: Praying God's Word: Breaking Free From Spiritual Strongholds (Hardcover)
How many times have you sat down to pray and felt like you were boring God with the same old prayer? Have you ever considered using God's unfathomable word in your prayers? What better way to talk to God than by using the loving guidance He has set forth for us in His word.

Beth Moore guides you through 14 different spiritual strongholds in the book Breaking Free From Spiritual Strongholds: Praying God's Word. In her most wonderful way of saying things she lets us know through God's word how we must learn to first turn these spiritual strongholds over to God before we can have that intimate relationship that we seek with our Heavenly Father.

If you are looking for an exciting prayer life where you feel the power of God when you pray then this book is a good starting point. Your prayer life will never be the same!

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding Scriptural Prayer reference!, June 1, 2001
This review is from: Praying God's Word: Breaking Free From Spiritual Strongholds (Hardcover)
Although I have read only 5 chapters(strongholds), I could not wait to share my review!...I have read many good books on prayer but this one outranks them all, and I have already begun recommending it to friends and family!

I did not consider that the strongholds of Depression and Unbelief would apply to ME, but the depth with which each topic is covered makes each one, indeed, personal AND relevant....Praying these scriptures prepares one to readily enter into the presence of the LORD with one's OWN praise, contrition, thanksgiving, and petitions. To her own profoundly spiritual insights and experiences Beth Moore interjects quotations from other prominent authors, and even includes spaces for journaling, which complete this exceptional work.

I will definitely look for and recommend Beth Moore's other books with confidence in her faithfulness to GOD, and to His WORD....
