I had the opportunity to read this book while doing an internship at my Church. We had to read a book every three months and then write a brief paper on how the book inspired us personally. The book started off a little slow but once you got into the book you could not help but to feel for John Hyde. He was such a man of prayer, and you could actually feel his passion and love for prayer and intercession. The book goes over his life and shows different aspects of his life in prayer. The book truly challenged me in my own individual prayer life! I couldn't help but grow by reading this book. I recommend it to anyone who truly has a heart to pray or anyone going into ministry. It changed my life, it can change yours!

This is written by 3 different writers (compiled by one person). The second and third recorded stories that changed my view on prayer. Very powerful. Hyde's passion for God in prayer far exceeds anything that I've ever experienced before. This helps paint a better vision for our prayer lives.

This is a wonderful synopsis hitting some of the peaks of John Hyde's life. A modest ammount of personal application make this a wonderful devotional tool for individual or group edification.

This is one of the greatest books I have ever read, it is very inspiring. The man was a tremendous prayer warrior.

This is an excellent book both to help with prayer and to motivate to pray.

This book should be an inspiration to anybody trying to find a way to increase their faith. Read this book prayerfully and you gain new insight. John Hyde was definitely a unique man who had indeed lost himself in Christ. His was no doubt a life to be emulated.

Although short and in some cases repetitive the overall effect is a catharsis to the spirit. The perseverance and faithfulness of John Hyde truly exemplifies a wholesale submission to the Lord. Just as he was in life so is the recounting of his life to readers an encouragement to closely examine our relationship with Jesus and find how much more resolute we could be in seeking Him. It is the kind of publication that can be quickly read initially. Yet, compels the reader to reread and take notes while contemplating the extraordinary pervasiveness of Hyde's effect on the people he encountered. I recommend this book for those who desire to expand their heart for God.

If prayer is a subject that is of interest to you (and I pray that it is), this book will lead you into deep spiritual waters. Hyde's committment to Christ and his example of the "prayer life" or living a "life of prayer" if you will are nothing short of astonishing. I am HIGHLY recommending this book to all of my fellow laborers in the Lord who seek an ever deepening fellowship with Christ. This book is a short read; only about 120 pages. But be warned, it is not a quick read. It is so rich, one can only read a little at a time.

Anyone who has a heart for prayer or a burden for prayer will be entirely blessed and inspired by this book. John Hyde was a man among men when it came to prayer. He has few peers and his story is a huge motivator.
