What a Brilliant Set of Books!!!,
By Bluedog (Luling, Louisiana United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Praying 101 for Kids & Teens (Paperback)
It's true what the author says "No one is really taught how to pray... only how to memorize a few really good prayers." These books take the guessing out of what works and what doesn't work and why some prayers are answered and why it appears some prayers aren't. This is one of a set of 5 books. There's a book for everyone... The entire set consist of Praying 101 for Parents, Praying 101 for Kids & Teens, Praying 101 for Men, Praying 101 for Women and Praying 101 for Spiritual Enlightenment. Each book contains approximately 75 customized prayers. There's a prayer for pimples in the Kids & Teens book.... wish I knew that one when I was younger. There's a prayer for removing guilt in the Spiritual Enlightment book. There's a prayer for Good Judgment in the Men's book. There's a prayer for your childs safety in the Parents book. There 's a prayer for a shopping addiction in the Women's book. Truly a must have for everyone.

I WISH I HAD THIS WHEN I WAS A KID...,
This review is from: Praying 101 for Kids & Teens (Paperback)
When I was growing up, I wish I had a book that had nearly 100 prayers that were custom made for me. From acne to peer pressure to forgiveness, I believe I would've been able to overcome a lot of self consciousness and self doubt. This book is a GEM! There is a prayer for every single issue a kid/teen is faced with throughout their school years, and prayers that will carry them through for the rest of their lives. While reading it, I felt a calm wash over me that was palatable; I actually began to feel lighter and full of gratitude and joy. Dottie Randazzo's choice of words have the ability to permeate the conscious mind and go deep into the sub-conscious to connect with pure joy and love for oneself and others. PRAYING 101 FOR KIDS AND TEENS offers something I have never seen before, and that is the way Dottie begins each prayer with words that the reader can try on. Whether it is to God, Lord, Goddess, Father, or Masters of the Universe, the author lets the reader know that prayers are heard no matter whom you address them to. I can't think of a better holiday gift for young people, and I would highly recommend the other books in the author's Praying 101 series.

Where was this book when I was a kid?,

This review is from: Praying 101 for Kids & Teens (Paperback)
This prayer book could have changed the course of my life! Fortunately it is never too late to learn how to pray effectively and with right motives. An adult could benefit from using the prayers in this book, but it is geared toward children and teenagers. The prayers in this book are some that any parent would love to hear their child pray. What parent wouldn't want their child to pray for good grades, true friends, good judgment, good health for self and others, safety on the Internet, or to have better communication with parents, and wisdom to resolve conflicts? Dottie puts it on the level with kids and teens using examples of things teens might want or ask for. Sounds great so far, but it gets even better. Addressing such issues as pimples, braces, glasses, lost pets, popularity, bad hair days, passing a test, being the new kid at school, winning at sports, waking up on time, and getting a date for prom night, Praying 101 for Kids and Teens meets the everyday needs for this unique age group. But there are more serious issues that kids face and need divine help in resolving. This book has a specific prayer for kids dealing with anorexia/eating habits, low self-esteem, anxiety or panic attacks, drug addiction, step-family issues, breaking up with a girl/boyfriend, gang involvement, divorcing parents, abusive relationships, and teen pregnancy. Each simple and practical entry can be read as a prayer to manifest the highest and best outcome in any situation. Who should kids to pray to? God, Goddess, Higher Power, Lord, Father, Masters of the Universe, Saint, Angels--it doesn't matter. This book is non-denominational. I could see Christian or Pagan parents recommending this book to their kids. I plan to give a copy to my nine-year-old grandson. Why wait until a child has problems to teach him how to manage life from a spiritual vantage point? The book is jammed-packed with powerful prayers to help kids find courage to stand up for themselves, and wisdom to know when and how their prayers are being answered.

FINALLY!!! A relevent prayer book for kids & teens!,
This review is from: Praying 101 for Kids & Teens (Paperback)
Dottie Randazzo has written a book that should have existed years ago, more specifically, when I was growing up! Her book, Praying 101 for Kids & Teens addresses the problems that young people see as most important, not what adults THINK they should be praying about.
Perfect example: Prayer For Getting A Pet: "Dear Father, I pray for the wisdom to understand the responsibility that goes into owning a pet. I pray for the strength and courage to show my parents that I am ready to make a commitment to a pet. If this isn't the time for me to see the reasons why. Thank you for blessing me." This is brilliant! If only I had this book when I was a kid and would go to bed every night BEGGING God for a puppy! Non-denominational, this book opens the mind up to all the possibilities of the power of prayer, (including the current trend of getting your intentions "out there to the universe"). There isn't just one way to pray, and Dottie taps into the many varied ways a child or young adult can get his/her message out, provided they are asking for something good. From overcoming panic attacks, to adjusting to a new school, and even the (seemingly to adults)trivial worries of kids: Hair, break-ups, having to wear unwanted glasses---these concerns can seem quite a big deal to young folks, and Praying 101 for Kids & Teens gives all the concerns of young people their due attention. (Think about how many times we have all prayed, no matter how casually, for lower taxes or cheaper gas prices because that is OUR concern of the day!) The point is, our concerns as adults are not the concern of kids and they need to have a book focused on the issues that will bring them comfort.

A Must Have Series of Books!,
This review is from: Praying 101 for Kids & Teens (Paperback)
Ok boys and girls, go home and make sure you say grace at each meal and don't forget to pray for your family, friends, pets and those less fortunate than you before you go to sleep. . . for many of us, as a child, that's what we heard each week in church, class, or from our parents. In almost every case, we memorized a prayer, recited it, usually in front of our parents, and never really understood it. We generally never really prayed with a specific purpose. Well, Dottie has created a series of prayer books for kids (teens too), men, women and parents to help each learn to pray with a specific purpose, all the while understanding what they are doing. In a non-denominational manner this series shows that there are many ways to pray for something positive. The series addresses concerns for specific matters in life that will hopefully bring a sense of relief and reassurance. This is a must have series!
