From the Back Cover

Even before your baby was conceived, he or she was on God’s calendar! The heavenly Father has incredible plans for your child, and it is never too early to begin praying for His power and protection over your precious baby’s life.
Praying Through Your Pregnancy is a week-by-week guide for nurturing Baby’s spirit as he or she grows within your womb. Each chapter reveals what is happening with your child’s development that week, starting with the very first moment of conception. Each week, you’ll find a powerful “Mother’s Prayer” to guide your conversations with God, as well as recommended Scripture meditations so that you can hide His Word in your heart— cultivating your relationship with the Father as your child grows.
As your little one develops physically, you’ll learn how to place your confidence in God and reduce stress and anxiety as you trust in Him. An exclusive interview with Debbie Mills, Senior Prayer Leader for Prenatal Prayer at the International House of Prayer, shows how you can access deep reservoirs of peace for you and Baby, both before and after delivery. Also included are excerpts from Jennifer Polimino’s personal pregnancy journal and guided journaling questions for you. This intimate record of your child’s earliest days will become a treasured keepsake for you and your family. Draw close to the Creator and get to know His newest creation—your baby— through the power of prayer!

I thought this would be a perfect book to read as I go through my 3rd pregnancy but I'm only through about half the book and I can't keep reading it because it's not at all what I was expecting or needing. To me it's a watered down, rose colored glasses approach to faith and the power of prayer. I 100% believe in the power of prayer, but the author's approach makes it sound like if you pray for very specific things that you'll get them every time. Sometimes you do and sometimes you don't. My sister has a child with a birth defect and I guarantee there were countless daily prayers offered up during her pregnancy. What my sister will tell you is that by praying through anything in your life that God will give you the provision and strength you need. Now that's a realistic and comforting approach to prayer (her son is a miracle and God has provided in so many amazing ways for him and her family). I think this book has the potential to do serious damage to young or questioning believers who happen to read it during a pregnancy and have something go wrong. It could completely destroy someone's faith because it gives you the impression that God is a genie in a bottle who will grant you any wish you have if you just pray it a certain way. It does have three pages at the end about how sometimes things don't turn out the way you expect which are full of truth and wisdom. I wish the book had been written more from this type of perspective, that no matter what happens in your pregnancy that it's all part of God's great plan. God will always answer your prayers, but it's not necessarily in the way you expect. He gives you what you need but it's His version of what you need. His version is always the perfect way, but sometimes it can be hard to accept at first.Read more ›

I first heard the authors on KLOVE, a christian radio station, and could not wait to get the book. What an inspiration it has been to my prayer life during this special time. I love how the authors describe the physical descriptions of how the baby is maturing but go deeper into a spiritual application. This is an excerpt from week 8 for example. "This week your baby's feet and toes are also beginning to form. I want my children to walk with Christ all the days of their lives, no matter where their feet take them. I want them to know that Jesus is always with them."
It has been such an encouragement to read through the journaling and stories of the author and I love the scripture verses she encourages us to look up and the questions for your own journal entries. But my favorite thing about this book are the Mothers Prayers at the end of each week. I have used these prayers to write some of my own for my sweet baby boy.
I recommend this book with 5 stars to anyone who is pregnant or as a wonderful gift for the mom-to-be.

This book has been such a joy to read! I am having my third child and although I have prayed thru each pregnancy for the health of my baby it is so nice to be able to know what to pray for specifically each week. It has been a joy getting to know Jennifer throughout her journal and has made me laugh at many times because I was having the same thoughts, joys, and fears. I love that she has included scripture throughout the book. It is always so comforting to read the word of God. I will defiantly be recommending this book to other expectant mothers. Thank you so much Jennifer and Carolyn for this wonderful book that truly is an inspiration for all of us.

I thought I'd be getting a little booklet with a few select prayers in it. Here is what I did get:

1. A week-by-week explanation of what was happening with me and my baby.
2. A very personal journal of the author's own pregnancy...which helped me to appreciate that what I was going through was not uncommon...which certainly saved me from panic attacks :)
3. Meaningful scripture references that applied to pregnancy and motherhood.
4. Places to write down my own thoughts, feelings, fears, preparations.
5. Well thought out prayers to either recite out loud or read to myself (which is a MUST for anyone who, like me, sometimes doesn't know what to say to God).
6. Tips on my (and my baby's) health - food tips, exercise tips, mental health tips - you name it.

While reading this book, I felt like the author was sitting next to me - guiding, coaching, reassuring and best of all - PRAYING. Pregnancy can be scary; it's nice feeling the presence of the Holy Spirit providing comfort along the way.

A must read for all pregnant women who are believers. This is my second time pregnant and reading it again for weekly scriptures and for encouragement. I purchase it on kindle but k buy this boom for all my pregnant friends and buy a physical all copy so they can journal in the book. Also there is a website that goes along with the book by the author. I went on there before I was induced with my first childbearing for prayer, she emailed me asking how things went and it is a great prAyer support group. A must have, and I mean that seriously!

Every pregnant, Christian women MUST have this book! I don't know what I'd do without it. although the book leaves room for you to journal in it, I haven't written in my book. Instead, I journal on my computer and then have printed it out in book form for my child. Lovely to know what is happening as far as development goes each and every week and to know that someone else is emotionally and physically dealing with the same issues you are at each week. Like I said, A MUST HAVE! Also makes the perfect gift!
