Book Description

Doubts, depression and discouragement are characteristic responses of someone who has endured an experience of 'bad things happening to good people.' When a promise from God does not come to pass, the aftermath is often confusion about validity of a personal relationship with the Lord. In Praying Through Sorrows, co-authors Dutch Sheets and Chris Jackson confront the emotional anguish awaiting the arrival of a long delayed breakthrough. Forsaking any clichi about the patience of Job, Praying Through Sorrows shows how one overcomes the debilitating state of 'hope deferred making the heart sick, ' while seeking a restoration of faith in God's goodness.

Praying Through Sorrow. Chris Jackson knows what he is talking about when sharing information about sorrow and how to keep going on no matter what. A medical marathon with his precious child would test every fiber of tenacity while proving God was still good amidst the trauma. Though heartache does not end in bliss, there are threads woven into the pain that can produce a synergistic effect of good. Praying Through Sorrows will help you see through the pain as you forge through the process. While all is said and done you may not come away with more answers; in fact it may be much to the contrary. What happened will never be good but God can work the sum total of our experiences for good. Chris Jackson states: "The passion of God is to wrap His heart around hurting humanity, hear their cry, and restore their dreams."
Authors Dutch Sheets and Chris Jackson offer advice for those suffering loss and grief.
*Your passion and zest for life will return. Your only job is to keep living and stay tender before the Lord even while you wrestle with your loose ends.
*You are not destined for a hollow life of pain- wracked grief. You will smile again.
*If we allow God to have His work in us, He will use crisis to elevate us above our present moment into a bigger perspective.
*You will recover all the passion and zeal that you have lost.
Though some questions have no answers on this side of eternity, the importance of beginning to move again, through prayer and surrender is vital. As seasons of waiting reveal our character, they caution us that bitterness will be evident if we failed to respond properly to hurt, loss, or grief.

This is a great book for anyone who has experienced the death of a loved or and is trying to find God's purpose for the lost. I found this book for four dollars or 27 rand while on a mission's trip in Cape Town, South Africa. It was the best four dollars I've spent. It helped me resolve some lingering grief issues and helped me see I can still dream in spite of the lost.
