5.0 out of 5 stars Death Metal Electric Wizard, November 30, 2007
This review is from: Pre Electric Wizard 1989-1994 (Audio CD)
Some of their first few songs is pure Death metal with the growl. Then there is some of the traditional Wizard slow sludge. Chrono-naut is thrown in here too. A great mixture in a Great digipack. Well worth it for any E.W. fan. The songs are listed in reverse from their actual release. The last songs are actually their very first songs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sabbath after Sabbath, December 3, 2009

This review is from: Pre Electric Wizard 1989-1994 (Audio CD)
Electric Wizard needs no introduction. I bought this compilation because it reminds me Sabbath - although not in the same league, but I am quite satisfied. Frankly, I am even more impressed and pleased than with later albums of the band.
In fact this collection covers various "before life" incarnations of Justin Oborn and his fellow doom-mongers from Bornemouth: 4 tracks by "Lord of Putrefaction", 3 - by "Thy Grief Eternal", and, finally, 4 tracks by "Eternal". Needless to say, all penned by Oborn & Co, except "Electric Funeral", borrowed from Black Sabbath. This compilation saves you lot of trouble (and money) searching for the singles of the band dating back to 1992 or so.
Although Justin is Oborn and not Osbourne, he is honestly screaming his head of, and the band is completely under the spell of "Sabbath" - nothing to be ashamed of.
I would advice to try also the "Serpent Throne" (Ride Satan Ride, The Battle of Old Crow - although American, they came even closer to their idols, and had the wisdom and decency not even be bothered with vocals
