7 1/2' Pre-Lit Pine Artificial Christmas Tree w/ Clear Light

I'm not a botanist. I don't know a pine from a fir from a coiffure. But this tree looks great, and looks like what you would expect for a Christmas tree. And for the money I'd say it's one of the best out there.

3.0 out of 5 stars This is not a pine tree replica.
For the record, whether this is a replica spruce or fir, I'm not certain. Probably fir. But definitely, not a pine. Spruce have square, sharp needles. Firs have flat needles.

It actually looks pretty good. If I took the trouble to make this thing, I would want to know what I had made.

Manufacturer, if you want to re-label this and you...

If you're concerned about the kind of tree this is supposed to imitate, I'll defer to the reviewer who discusses the species. Like that reviewer, I'd also recommend the seller correct this, just so no one is surprised.

But for those of us seeking a nice-looking artificial tree that we can use year-after-year without spending an arm and a leg, this is an excellent choice. And no trees (that I know of) were harmed to make it. Although several probably died to make the rather large box it came in.

This box, by the way, is sturdy and well designed for easy after-Christmas storage. The box has handles in convenient locations, and inside the box are included more than a dozen extra lights for the occasional burn-out. Also important, one light burning out on the string will NOT cause all the other lights to go out!

I'm including pictures of the tree pretty much out of the box. Not surprisingly, you'll want/need to "fluff" the branches to make them look more real. And the more you do this, the better. But otherwise it's really easy to set up. And once done it's all ready for our ornaments and to make the tree our own.

When compared to similar trees of a similar size, the price of this one seems excellent and the tree looks great. I can't imagine paying more (sometimes a LOT more) than $200 U.S. for essentially the same (or worse) product. As of this writing (November 2010), this tree costs $99.99.

One thing to keep in mind... the tree is life-sized, as you might expect. So you'll want to be sure you have space for a 7 1/2 foot tree with big "branches" around the base to match. If this seems too big, you might consider going with one of the "city space" type trees, which can be just as tall but more narrow around the base. Several trees of this sort are sold on Amazon and look reasonably priced to me.

PS- I paid for "standard" shipping, which was estimated at 2 to 5 business days. At around $47 U.S. (as of Nov 2010), shipping wasn't cheap, but seems consistent with a product this size.

Much to my surprise, the tree was delivered to my doorstep the next day! I guess I can't promise that sort of speed for everyone, but to me it says good things about the merchant fulfilling sales of this tree. And fortunately the total weight seems manageable for an average healthy adult. The box it comes in also includes well-placed handles that make things easier.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Tree, November 30, 2010

This review is from: 7 1/2' Pre-Lit Pine Artificial Christmas Tree w/ Clear Light
This is a very nice tree once assembled. The only reason I didn't give this tree 5 stars is because I REALLY wanted the tree to look more like the photo on the outside of the box (the original photo that is posted to sell the item) - IT DIDN'T! Yet, there is no denying that it is still a nice tree, and better than most I've seen in some of the local stores. I did post some photos so others could judge for themselves. At the time I purchased the tree (11/19/10), it cost $99.00 plus $46.40 for shipping and handling. I was a little concerned about the shipping cost being almost half the cost of the tree, but the box is pretty heavy. I suppose the shipping cost was ok when you take the weight into consideration. The tree came in a box with handles, and although it was too heavy for me carry, it was easier to move the box because of the handles. Also, I will be able to (re)use the box again for storage of the tree after the holidays. Inside the box the tree was divided into 3 pieces along with the stand wrapped seperately (4 total pieces). There were also extra light bulbs included. The tree was (is) very easy to assemble as the main brances 'fall' into place and all you have to do is 'fluff' the branches afterwards. The tree is also a bit heavy and awkward to move once assembled, but I think that is pretty typical for a larger christmas tree. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase. I originally purchased this tree for the lobby area of our office, and since it's been put up we have had many compliments on the tree itself.

Manufacturer, if you want to re-label this and you are completely clueless botanically, call it an evergreen or a conifer. Those are generic terms.
