Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Much has been written about preparation for childbirth. Wilson is unique in covering the previous steppreparation for pregnancyin this thorough, up-to-date guide. She covers a wide range of concerns that are best resolved before conception. Topics include the parenthood decision, diet and exercise, financial and career adjustments, and more. The book emphasizes the practical rather than emotional issues involved in contemplating pregnancy. For a fuller discussion of the latter, the reader might try A Baby? . . . Maybe by Elizabeth Whelan (Bobbs, 1980. rev. ed.). Wilson's attention to possible complications such as miscarriage, genetic defects, and financial difficulties could discourage some prospective parents, but overall the book should appeal to cautious modern couples. 2.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the title fool you, July 25, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Pre-Pregnancy Planner (Paperback)
This book verges on scary in its heavy reality-based content designed to help you decide to have a baby (or not). If you already know you want to get pregnant, and are just looking for guidelines on the healthiest, smartest way to do it, stay away from this book. It will not psych you up or make you feel good.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Pre-Pregnancy Planner, May 21, 2004
By
This review is from: The Pre-Pregnancy Planner (Paperback)
This book was awful. Josleen's "professional" point of view regarding pregnancy entails babie's as being a huge inconvenience, financial drain, and resentment to your "hard-earned relationship". I felt terrible while reading this book. Fortunately, newer books and philosophies exist since she published this useless trash in 1986. I burned it because I shudder at the idea of someone else picking it up a second-hand store.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful for considering pregnancy, May 31, 2001

Margaret Swank (San Diego, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Pre-Pregnancy Planner (Paperback)
I have been looking everywhere for a book that covers issues you might want to consider when just thinking about "do I have a baby or not?". Although, like many conception books, this focused heavily on the how to conceive part, almost half of it discussed issues to be aware of when trying to decide "should I have a baby?" and "if so, when is best".
