Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The new BLUETUBE DP two channel microphone/instrument preamplifier with Dual Path technology delivers the best of both worlds offering a solid state preamplifier stage and a tube preamplifier stage in each channel. This new Dual Path feature delivers the most flexible preamplifier in its price range by delivering both fat warm tube tone or invisible solid state transparency. The BLUETUBE DP replaces the original award-winning BLUETUBE as PreSonus' most affordable two-channel microphone/instrument preamplifier. Each channel of the BLUETUBE DP includes a -20dB pad, polarity reverse, 80Hz filter, and +48v phantom power. Front panel controls include solid state GAIN control and switchable on/off TUBE DRIVE. When the TUBE DRIVE is clicked off, the tube preamplifier stage is bypassed delivering ultra-quiet and transparent preamplification. The front panel also includes illuminated analog VU meters for each channel for easy visual monitoring.

The BLUETUBE DP's inputs are professional-quality Neutrik Combo connectors for inputting both XLR and 1/4" TS sources. Outputs include both XLR and TS jacks allowing for ultimate flexibility.

The PreSonus BLUETUBE Dual Path is great for enhancing all types of microphones including condensors, dynamics and ribbons, as well as instruments including keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars and bass. The BLUETUBE DP is the perfect front-end preamplifier for any project studio delivering a wide range of sounds and tonality all at an amazingly affordable price.

4.0 out of 5 stars PreSonus Stereo Tube Mic-PreAmp Rocks!, April 10, 2008
This review is from: PreSonus BlueTube DP 2-Channel Vacuum Tube Dual-Path Mic Pre (Electronics)
If you're looking for a quality pre-amp for a reasonable price, you've gotta check out this Stereo Tube Pre-Amp from PreSonus. I use it with the C-1 large condenser mic from Studio Projects and another AKG large condenser mic. The warmth and clarity that is added by the pre-amp is amazing. Sure, you could spend a few thousand on a high end pre-amp, but that's why you go into the studio right?? I mainly use this for songwriting and demo type recordings. When I'm writing or creating a new arrangement for a song, I usually just record the trax on the go with my MacBook or in my garage on my iMac. It still gives quality and clarity which make for great sounding tracks and gives me a lot of usable material to work with throughout the recording process. I highly recommend this unit for anyone with a home or mobile studio.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good sound for the price, February 24, 2010

This review is from: PreSonus BlueTube DP 2-Channel Vacuum Tube Dual-Path Mic Pre (Electronics)
After using the bluetube for 2 month. The product is great for the price. I recorded a vocalist, put in a Blue, Bluebird microphone, plug into the bluetube, that went into a Echo Audio Firewire 8. The sounds was outstanding; very natural and clear, I added a notch or two of the tube distortion that really warmed it up. I havn't tested out with a different vacuum tube, but it is very easy to change it. A few things that I didn't like.

1. No power off switch.
2. Knobs could a little bigger for better grip.
3. The bottom could be a little higher for air circulation.
4. Assemble in Communist China that does not support human rights or sustainability.

I would still bought if it cost a hundred more and was made elsewhere. I would also have less guilt. If I knew the facts, I would of gone with a Grace Design M101. If you are working with audio as a small business, a grace design pre-amp would be better investment. If you if your audio is a hobby, student, garage band recording, than the Presonus Bluetube would suffice. Overall, its still a very good pre-amp for recording with plenty of configurations and options. It also works great with a pair of stereo microphone, since it has 2 channels with polarity shift.
