Devil in the Pulpit, September 28, 2008
This review is from: Preacherman Blues (Paperback)
Bishop Percival Turner (PC) and his associate pastor, Terrell Money (TJ), have been friends since they were children. Percival loves TJ like a brother and has openly shown TJ the extent of his love. Unfortunately, TJ hasn't done the same. While church is a business to many, Percival is different. He isn't playing the role of a preacher, he is a preacher.
TJ is not truly a man of GOD. TJ's real actions are proven as he's using church money to try to gain property that they need for a new development. Money's goal is to have the largest church without any regard for who will suffer behind his vindictive acts. How much more will PC encounter before his eyes are truly opened to his friend?
"Preacherman Blues" by Jihad is an excellent read. With each page you want more and more. My only complaint is that the sequel won't be released until 9/9/09.

One Good...One Evil!, September 4, 2008
This review is from: Preacherman Blues (Paperback)
Best-friends since childhood, Terrell Money and Percival Turner had big dreams to become mega preachers and head up their own church.
As adults, Terrell and Percival known as TJ and PC respectively achieved their dream and then some.
Both now married men they are respected leaders in the community.
With the ownership of One World Faith AME mega church that seats thousands and coveted awards such as Bishop of the Year bestowed upon them these men are sitting pretty.
Money is no object and TJ and PC make sure that everybody knows it!
TJ always took the leading role. Sometimes PC didn't always agree with TJ on certain things but he was content to follow along and cover up many of his best-friend's dirty deeds.
The story really heats up when PC starts feeling guilty about their not so Christian lifestyles and tries to right the wrongs; but Terrell "TJ" Money ain't having none of that...oh no!
This brings about a holy war like no other!!
This was a well rounded read for me. I enjoyed the story and couldn't believe the lengths that TJ would go to!!!! The author was not afraid to put the popular characters through the wringer and some didn't survive...I loved that.
This is certainly a recommended read.

What we do in the name of God, November 15, 2008
This review is from: Preacherman Blues (Paperback)
What we do in the name of the GOD...
I had the pleasure of receiving an autographed copy of Preacher Man Blues by JIHAD. After multiple conversations with the author, JIHAD, I knew I was in for a real treat. But what I got from reading Preacher Man Blues was so much more. JIHAD is truly a wonderfully gifted author, a talented man, whose socially-conscious and eye-opening novel not only provided entertainment, it was enlightening.
As Preacher Man Blues opens, we are introduced to Pastor Terrell Joseph Money, a preacher and one half of a duo of preachers who would eventually form a mega church in Atlanta. It's been said that a first impression is a lasting one, and this proves to be true as Pastor Money, from page one, found himself in situations that would make your head spin and do a double take. He doesn't disappoint as the book progresses. His measures will leave your mouth agape and make your blood boil. The callous nature of his actions reveals that the devil does come in many forms.
On the flipside, meet Percival Turner - a devoted man of God, who completes his Masters in Divinity, marries his high school sweetheart and dedicates his life to preaching the word of God, and lending a helping hand to all those in need. The measure of this man is evidenced by his dedication to his community and to his family. He is one of those characters that you want to cheer for.
This is the ultimate tale of Good vs. Evil.
Pastor Turner (PC) and Pastor Money (TJ) are the best of friends, brothers in Christ, who are the leading pastors in the community. Eventually they build an empire which includes mega churches and real estate development. PC's goal is to uplift the community and is not concerned with the dollars and cents. TJ's vision, however, is quite different, and the greed and corruption which motivates most of his decisions soon conflicts with PC's mission - to lead those gone astray back to the Lord.
With colorful characters that provide many laugh out loud moments, to horrific situations that will bring you to tears, Preacher Man Blues has all of the elements of a great read, and everything you want in a good novel; page-turning delight that you can't read quick enough, yet, don't want to end.
JIHAD, however, takes it one step further by providing a perspective not seen too often in contemporary literature. He is brilliant in how he teaches you life lessons through his characters situations, as you can apply many of the lessons learned to your own walk in life.
Preacher Man Blues comes highly recommended. Please visit JIHAD online to get your copy. [...]
