The title of the book caught my attention since I am a Preacher's kid myself. My dad is a pastor and I can definitely relate to alot of things in this book. I truly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I could not stop reading it and enjoyed every chapter. This book made me laugh, almost made me cry,and most importantly taught me a lesson about my own relationship with God. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone especially other preacher's kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read, May 27, 2011

This Book "Preacher's Kids" really spoke to my heart. As a woman of God and the wife of a Minister it puts the veiws and weight of the children of the church into view. As elders in the church you tend to forget what life is like for the children in the church; And this books sets the stage for discussions. I will definitely recommend this book and look forward for more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll Cheer for the Heroine of Preacher's Kids ~ Secrets and Salvation!, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Preacher's Kids (Paperback)
Even if you're not a preacher's kid, you'll identify with and cheer for Mia Griffin, the totally normal teenage heroine in this charming and heartwarming story about what it's like to growing up as a "PK" (Preacher's Kid) in today's modern and confusing world.

A PK herself, author Keleigh Crigler Hadley dedicates her uplifting story, "Preacher's Kids ~ Secrets and Salvation," to "the best parents in the world," and thanks them for making her a PK. For anyone growing up as a PK, the friend of a PK, or married to a PK, Ms. Hadley's narrative is spot-on for capturing the thoughts and emotions of a tormented teen as she deals with her conflicted feelings about spirituality and secularity and how she can straddle both worlds.

Mia Griffin is a 14-going-on-15 year old teen with a twin sister, Morgan and older brother, Miles. The sisters are as different as night and day. Sister Morgan exemplifies outward perfection, while Mia is restless, rebellious and inquisitive. With deft storytelling skills, Ms. Hadley weaves a compelling story of Mia's struggles as she tries to come to terms with the challenges facing a young girl including how she deals with her best friend's internal struggles and the subsequent tragedy that befalls her. There is also a shocking twist at the end which ties Mia's entire journey together.

Peppered with scripture verses and Bible lessons that are made relevant to today's modern world, "Preacher's Kids ~ Secrets and Salvation," is a must-read for PKs, but also for any young girls who are going through the typical teenage angst that accompanies the awkward years between childhood and adulthood. This book is highly relevant to today's text-messaging teens and covers a number of sensitive subjects, so parents might want to read it along with their children and use it as a starting point to open and honest discussion. There are a number of suggested discussion topics at the end of the book, which will help open up the dialogue and keep it going.

Ms. Hadley has hit a home run with "Preacher's Kids ~ Secrets and Salvation"!

5.0 out of 5 stars interesting and touching story, June 4, 2009
This review is from: Preacher's Kids (Paperback)
I just liked the story very much. The things going on in the lives of each and every Preacher's kids are very similar to any normal kid. The author has written the stories of the lives of Mia, Morgan and Miles in a very interesting way. [...] The story of Mia's friend is very touching and very emotional.[...] One of the best things in the book is that it has very nice quotes and proverbs at the starting of each and every chapter. Each and every quotation has got something to learn in our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brings back memories.., June 3, 2009

This review is from: Preacher's Kids (Paperback)
Perfectly captures the challenges of growing up in a preacher's family, something I can relate to very well since I was a PK, too. It's something like growing up a celebrity, because all eyes are on you and there's a lot of pressure to keep up appearances no matter that you're just a kid like anyone else. This is the first time I've seen the subject tackled in a book, and I must say it was done very well! Excellent reading, and includes thought-provoking discussion questions at the end which would be perfect for parents or youth pastors reading this with their kids.

Preacher's Kid was a great great book. I enjoyed every second of it. I have a new found appreciation for the kids of my pastor and other friend of mine that are the kids of preacher's; as well as teacher's kids, principal's kids, and other people in the limelight kids.

4.0 out of 5 stars Putting Things Into Perspective, June 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It's funny to me how people always try to make it appear as though those who constantly go to church are perfect and are always receiving blessings without going through trials. This book put a lot of this into perspective for me and it shows that even those that are always in the church have their own struggles. I would highly recommend this book to others. It shows that no one is above going through trials and tribulations and that we all receive blessings whether we realize them or not.
