5.0 out of 5 stars A spiritual surprise, June 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Preaching to the Choir: Claiming the Role of Sacred Musician (Paperback)
I was dubious when I purchased this book -- but having read through it twice (it's that good) can recommend it highly to 1) Any musician who wonders whether s/he has a vocation in the church; 2) Clergy who want to understand their musicians better; 3) Laypeople who *think* they know what a church musician does (no, they do not simply show up on Sunday morning, play a few hymns, and leave... there's MUCH more to their vocation than that!). Our church is in the midst of a musician-search, and our committee reads a chapter before each meeting to help ground ourselves in prayer and the spiritual side of church musicianship. A terrific book.
