From Publishers Weekly
Southern Baptist Convention notables offer their faithful followers, and "searching preachers," 50 inspirational sermons to galvanize congregations and reinforce the denominations identity. Edited by former SBC president Draper, the lectures are divided along four themes: evangelism, family, encouragement of faith and preparing for the Kingdom of God. (Draper himself contributed dozens of sermons to the collection, including almost the entire section on family). Following Southern Baptist tradition, the sermons emphasize proselytizing missions, personal testimony and the literal Word of God from the Bible. The preachers prose is heavily punctuated with passages of scripture and, understandably, has the meandering feel of speech. Although each sermon-all available in electronic form on the accompanying CD-ROM-is identified according to preacher and verse, there is no contextual mention of when these words were delivered from the pulpit, making for an occasionally disconnected read.
