A Must-Have for Architecture Students,
This review is from: Precedents in Architecture: Analytic Diagrams, Formative Ideas, and Partis (Paperback)
I am an architecture student, and I do not know why this book was not a required textbook for our studio courses. It is very hard to find published diagrams of well-known buildings, but here they are laid out in a great format ideal for comparison. Every architect and architecture student should have this book in their library. I expect it to become a valuable reference tool and source of design inspiration.

I am an interior design student. I got this book when I received an assignment to analyze several case study buildings and draw diagrams ala this book. I probably would not have been able to do the assignment without it (eg, looking over a classmate's shoulder). This book presents methods for analyzing and diagramming architectural schemas. It develops a notation language for this purpose. I found that I learned a lot by using it- how to study buidlings in new ways, and how to classify and compare buildings that I may never have thought about. Now that I have it, I will use it as a reference, and I probably will always analyze buildings that I'm looking at or thinking about, with these methods. I think it's a useful book that should be in your library if you are studying architecture.

This book is certainly a great find for any students out there in design school whom need a good starting base. Historical Preservation is often overlooked as a proper precedent. Few teachers reason with those whom say old buildings have more character than the modern buildings. It is often hard to find a good example to back that statement up, but, fear not and look no further, this book is the solution. It breaks down many world famous structure designs for analysis in the design thinking. Well recommended for those with a historic background, just starting some sort of design education!

this is a good reference book when diagraming a structure. It has many examples and we work out of it frequently in studio.

The book is invaluable in how architect's treat the circulation and traffic flow of their buildings. The condition of the book is everything the seller promised.
