4.0 out of 5 stars I really liked it., November 29, 2008
This author has such a fantastic imagination for her characters and this great book certainly didn't disappoint me. Yes, we've all heard and read the other McKaslin Clan books and this is another branch of the family in another Montana town, but that's where the similarities end. I really like the way the author used Jack and Katherine's pseudo perfect lives to get to the heart of the matter - `perfection is in the eye of the beholder'.

State Trooper Jack Munroe works hard to provide a stable home environment for his teenage daughter. That's why he's ticked when Katherine McKaslin runs after his SUV and accuses his daughter of shoplifting. Obviously, the woman's got the wrong kid. But soon, Jack must face the fact it was indeed his daughter who stole from the Christian bookstore owned by Katherine's family.

Once Jack acknowledges his daughter's wayward behavior, he's then ticked at himself for being attracted to Katherine whom he considers too perfect with a hoity-toity attitude. It doesn't help matters when he keeps doing things like falling over himself in front of her.

Of course, Katherine isn't perfect - she has a secret - but, she dresses real nice and keeps herself trim and neat. She's attracted to the clean-cut straight-backed lawman, too but that's the problem because she's already had one bad relationship with a `perfect' man and he dumped her when he found out she didn't fit his ideal of the perfect woman.

To top it all off, Jack's teenager can't stand Katherine and undermines her at every turn which puts Jack in the unenviable position of choosing to keep his daughter happy, or date Katherine and live with an irate teenager.

Heat Level: Affectionate

My Rating: Great 4 stars

AWESOME Book Truly a Keeper.
Katherine had to make tough choices in her life but she didn't let them take her down.
She pushed forward and made a life for herself, when she could have gave up on life and hated the world. Katherine helg fast to her blessing; her brother and sisters, her life, her community, the families shop. she treasured her life and reminded herself of her blessings when the nightmares and the unbarable times came. It's a great reminder of persiverance, never back down, or listen to the negative thoughts of life. there's always a sunnyside of life! peace. goodness. if you look on the bright side you build character when trails come your way.
