We have a cat that is 17 years old
We started to have litter box issues
Sometimes she'd use it, sometimes not

Our cat is an extremely stubborn old cat
we were at the end of our rope my hubby and I
Being our cat is geriatric, we were thinking some type of kidney function problem
BUT after a clean bill of health from the vet
(Turns out she was having marking problems due to other
feral (outdoor) cats that would sometimes get into our yard)
And as cat owners know, once a cat "pees" in a "chosen" spot they
Then think it's okay to continue it there

Our vet told us of the cat attract litter
and that the compounds in the litter actually
make the cat want to use the box and reduce stresses
for the urge of a cat to mark and such.(And even though we still get other feline visitors, outdoors)
It has been six months now and her outside the litter box accidents are a thing of the past.

It has been a life saver for us and our carpet.
If all else fails and you check your cat for possible medical conditions first
Try this litter it may help your situation too
Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved our cat's life, November 26, 2010

This review is from: Precious Cat Cat Attract Problem Cat Training Litter, 40 pound bag (Misc.)
Our cat was diabetic (it has since remitted) and had been urinating *everywhere* but in the litter box. We tried everything and nothing worked until we gave "Cat Attract" a try. We weren't expecting anything, but we were getting to the point that the cat was ruining the house (hardwood floors, walls, woodwork, wall-to-wall carpeting) and euthanasia was on the table.

From the first use of this litter, we have had 100% litter box use. This is the obvious benefit. The attraction is so strong that as soon as I top up the boxes, the cat runs in to use the fresh litter.

Along those lines, you also must be careful where you store the bag. If our cat can get to the bag, she will urinate on/in it!

The drawbacks are the price and the weight. It's not cheap litter--but it is better than the alternative for us. Also, this is the densest litter I've ever wrangled. The 40 lb. bag is not easy to handle.

It clumps well and neutralizes odors fine--like any litter, if you scoop it every day (or up to three/four in a pinch) it controls the odor well. After that, all bets are off.

It does track a bit, but it's not the worst I've used.

Overall, I am completely happy with this product and very happy with the fact that it allowed us time to control the diabetes and focus on that issue instead of ripping out carpeting and throwing away rugs!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, April 2, 2008

My 15 year old cat decided that he would no longer use the litter box. I tried everything possible to get him to start using the box again but nothing was working. It got to the point where I was cleaning up urine every day. I'm disabled and I couldn't keep cleaning up after him. I was afraid I was going to have to get rid of him. I started using Cat Attract over six months ago and it solved the problem, he hasn't peed on the floor since! I'm impressed!

Have used for years and it is a life (no cat) saver. Kitty had stopped using her box and this brought her back.

Only problem was that I ordered two 20 lb. bags and Amazon sent one 40 lb. bag which was a major problem to handle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cat Attract really works!, October 24, 2010

Our cat was not using her litter box because she was upset. We tried everything the vets recommended, to "relearn" her into using the litter box. Changing boxes, moving boxes, changing litter, varying the height of the litter, and pheromone scented plug-ins did not work. This is the only thing that brought her back to the box! The vet recommended it because the natural-earthy smell attracts them. I highly recommend this product if your cat has taken to the carpet instead of the box!

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic in a bag and worth every penny!, July 30, 2011
This review is from: Precious Cat Cat Attract Problem Cat Training Litter, 40 pound bag (Misc.)
For years I have had a cat that would go to the bathroom in numerous places, most of them not in his box. Suitcases, area rugs and bathmats, plastic or bubble wrap, nylon fabric, athletic shoes and flip flops were his favorite things to pee on. A few years ago we rescued two kittens and his issues got even worse. He hated sharing any of the three boxes we have and didn't even like using "his" box when he had already used it once before. I just couldn't clean the boxes out frequently enough, especially when I wasn't home. He also started pooping on the floor beside the litter box. This was an almost daily occurence. Over the years I have tried several of the eco-friendly litters. Feline Pine eventually made my house smell like a damp wood shop, scattered everywhere, and sometimes I would get a splinter in my foot from it. World's Best is corn based and smelled like a farm and my cats hated it. Swheat Scoop was OK -- until I got a few bags infested with moths. I was desperate to find a new litter, even it wasn't environmentally the best choice. I just wanted something that all my cats would use and controlled odors without an overwhelming perfumed scent. Last week I bought two bags of Precious Cat and replaced all the litter with it. I know it's best to introduce a new litter gradually, but I decided it was do or die time, so to speak. They all seemed very interested at first and just started by smelling. Over the next 24 hours they all began testing it out. It has now been one week and I am thrilled to report there has not been a single accident or present left outside the box! This morning I even discovered the old cat using one of the boxes normally used by the other cats. I have never seen him use it before, and it had been used several times before he hopped into it. That is just unbelievable after all these years and problems. Life has gotten a lot easier for all of us thanks to Precious Cat! It is worth the price!!!

I would like to address a few comments left by other reviewers. I was skeptical about the dustless claims. I am sure there is some dust eventually, but I haven't seen it. No dust cloud when you pour or sift through the box. I completely agree with comments about the smell of the litter. There is virtually no smell to the litter itself, other than a faint herb smell that is almost undetectable unless I am inches from it. Odor control of cat waste is excellent, especially if the waste is covered by the cat. Tracking is minimal and stays close to the box. I used to find Feline Pine and Swheat Scoop on my couch, in my bed, everywhere. Precious Cat clumps very hard, but the longer it sits the better. One of my cats pees in a line pattern, so his clumps break up more than the others. And sometimes it does stick to the box. However, if I tip the box and gently bang on the outside of it, the clump will disloge without breaking and I can easily scoop it up. There is no such thing as perfect, but this litter is a lifesaver for our household.

5.0 out of 5 stars Honestly Amazed, April 23, 2011
This review is from: Precious Cat Cat Attract Problem Cat Training Litter, 40 pound bag (Misc.)
I'm a skeptical type of person -- and after trying Urine Gone, Anti-Icky Poo, Nature's Miracle etc, etc, etc (that was "DEFINITELY GOING TO WORK!") to get my two cats to stop using the couch/laundry basket/coat accidentally left on floor/ closet carpeting for a little box -- I didn't really know if this would work.

It did.

The science makes sense... we used just normal litter. It was dusty, perfumed, nasty. I wouldn't want to use that. This has NO odor, eliminates their odor, practically dust free (which makes cleaning it out a welcome), and just... works.

We have two litter boxes for our two cats (one little lady calico a year old, one male mut two years old)... got this and poured in it (didn't change anything else) and two weeks later... nothing on the couch! Granted, the stupid thing is still pretty stinky (the urine gone works best, if you're curious), but at least we can move forward and get it clean without having another cat mess the next day.

If you're at your wits end with your little not-so angels -- or if you're as skeptical as I am -- use it. Just go to PETCO and get a little 20 lb back just to test (like I did). I promise you'll be here two weeks later ready to buy two 40 lb. bags. It's honestly the only thing that has worked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Headache resolver, December 5, 2010
This review is from: Precious Cat Cat Attract Problem Cat Training Litter, 40 pound bag (Misc.)
One of my cats has always been sensitive about the litter box and started going on the carpet in my condo (I cannot have tile cause believe me, I would). I tried everything to get her to change and it wasn't until I tried this litter did she go back to the litter box. The only pain is that the other stuff I had was flushable and I could get rid of the waste right away but I was willing to do whatever to get this bad habit to stop. I love my cat and would never have given up so I am happy I finally decided to give this stuff a shot! Another tip for others to try, I moved the litter box to a place where she could see what was going on around her versus back in a corner where I think she felt insecure (my other cat had a tendency to pounce as soon as she finished her business).

5.0 out of 5 stars If All Else Fails, Try THIS..., December 15, 2011

This review is from: Precious Cat Cat Attract Problem Cat Training Litter, 40 pound bag (Misc.)
We have a loving, goofy, dumb-as-dirt, 11-year-old cat who had gotten off his litter game. He'd had some issues, we thought IBS, it ended up diabetes (from which he is now in remission, thankfully), and in the process, he began to totally avoid the litter box, instead opting to go on the floor just outside of it. This is a cat who we are not entirely sure remembers who WE are from day to day, so retraining was not going to be an easy task. It was as if he'd forgotten he had EVER used a litter box. We tried a number of things, changing litters, changing boxes, hood on, hood off, moving the boxes. We bought a Cat Genie, hoping for the best, and though he used it occasionally, he just wouldn't commit. We provided several boxes as alternatives, kept them all clean, but no dice. The final solution was to put the box on a "sacrificial" bathmat on a washable floor, and we would rotate and wash the bathmat every time he used them. Not a good permanent solution, but it was the only way (we thought) to save our carpet and bedding. This amounted to about two years of attempting to find an answer.

I typed 'problem cat' into the Amazon.com search window, hoping for a miracle answer, and Precious Cat - Cat Attract shone like a beacon. Was it too good to be true?? Following advice from other reviewers, we got a Wonder Box, the Cat Attract sprinkles, and a bag of the Cat Attract litter. All three of our cats were intensely interested in the new setup, and we were hopeful. Within about 30 minutes, someone used it, and before the next morning, we had proof positive that our "problem" kitty used it (he eats a different food, trust me, we know!). In the following *six weeks* to present, he has used it routinely, had *absolutely no* accidents, and he has again become brave enough to go when we or the other cats are nearby. He's gone from total litter box avoidance to potty exhibitionist!

We fill the large Wonderbox with the litter, scoop the contents 2-3 times per day, and sprinkle the top with the cat attractant after each time we scoop. We also still have the Cat Genie set up, and though they all prefer the Wonderbox, we sprinkle the sprinkles in the Genie, and they use it sometimes, more than when they had a plain litter box as an option. The sprinkles cause no problem whatsoever in the works of the Cat Genie. The litter itself has little to no smell, it clumps great, and it's not dusty at all. The sprinkles have kind of an herb-y smell, but it's no more offensive than catnip.

I cannot endorse this product enough. I NEVER thought we'd get our cat retrained, and though I never considered giving him up as a result, I know that a lot of people get to that point in frustration from dealing with outside-the-box accidents. This litter REALLY works. Give it a try before you give up on your feline friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cat Attract Saved My Cat's Life, October 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Precious Cat Cat Attract Problem Cat Training Litter, 40 pound bag (Misc.)
This is an update to a review I wrote in July, 2011 on the 20 lb bag; I actually got the 40 lb bag so should have written the review under this item.
Cat Attract literally saved my cat's life. Several years ago,my sweet female cat, only 6, was diagnosed with ideopathic hemorragic cystitis (ihc)and most likely, being uncomfortable caused her to start peeing all over. Her bad habits got worse even when the ihc had gone away; she would still pee on our clothes in laundry baskets, on the carpet, on backpacks, etc. and even started pooping in odd places. We had two clean litter boxes and tried many types of unscented litter. I am so happy to be able to write this review and want to thank Dr. Elsey and Cat Attract for this product. I wish I had known about it years ago,it would have saved me a lot of time and money, cleaning up the urine. And it would have saved me a lot of sadness and anxiety thinking about the possibility of having her euthanized. I just happened upon Cat Attract by accident when making a last ditch effort of searching articles for urinary problem cats. I also changed to an open Sterlite 56 quart storage container instead of the Booda litterbox and another covered litter box. Also, the storage container has sides that are about 12" high so my cats cannot accidentally poop or pee over the edge and onto the floor and the urine will not go through the area where the top fits over the bottom so it is much cleaner. It does an excellent job of smell reduction and there isn't much mess outside of the litter box. This combination of Cat Attract litter and the bigger and deeper box are making a big difference in my kitty's behavior, no more accidents and I am of course, no longer considering having her euthanised.
