With four cats in an apartment, I had tried ALL kinds of litter: regular clay (which was a smelly disaster), clumping clay (dusty and smelling nasty after two days), World's Best (it's great that it's natural, but it doesn't cover odors really well, and will decorate your floors and furniture with yellow dusty paw prints), Swheat Scoop (same thing, natural and smells good, but doesn't clump well, and leaves dusty paws everywhere)... I never tried pine pellets because it didn't seem logical to get something with such a strong fragance, and such a weird consistancy.

To keep it short, I was looking for a non-dusty, fragrance-free, nice clumping litter, able to keep the odor down with four cats. I googled and googled, and finally found a bunch of raving reviews for Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping litter. On a hunch, I decided to try it (despite the expensive shipping!).

Well, it was the best litter-related decision I ever made :)
This litter is nothing short of awesome. Completely non-dusty (no more cat paws on my couch and bed, and I can dump the whole bag into the litter box without so much as sneezing); clumps really well; no odor whatsoever (I do scoop three times a day, so it helps... but even after two weeks in the box, there is not the faintest smell of sour clay like with other litters I tried); it covers the poop smells really well too.

Last but not least, my cats LOVE it! When we first put it in the clean litter boxes, two of them just curled up in the boxes and took a nap - I guess this was their way of saying "alright now you better get that same litter all the time"...

I definitely recommend it. The only downside is that it is heavy (like all clay litters), but it is very affordable if you can find it at your local Petsmart. Thanks amazon for allowing me to try it before I hunted down the local Petsmart (45 mn away, but it's worth it!).

Living in New York City, this cat litter is half the price that I can find here. Plus with free shipping over $25, I don't have to carry heavy litter from the store.

I think the litter itself is great. It seems to absorb odors real well and clumps like any premium brand.

I didn't think I could do any better than Ever Clean. I still like Ever Clean, but it's second choice now. No matter how little dust Ever Clean supposedly had, it seemed to STILL have plenty enough to annoy me on "clean up and add litter" day. I have found Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter to live up to the claim of virtually dust free. There's no cloud of dust when I add to the litter box or Litter Robot. I have found it to help with litter box odor. Even more than these good things, I can have the bag shipped from Amazon (the 8.5 pound size) shipped to me CHEAPER than what Ever Clean costs - and I like it so much better. The cats are happy, and "mamma is happy" - LOL. I recommend this product.

After finally getting our dream kitty, Maine Coon, the breeder gave us a bag of this litter and strongly suggested using it. We LOVE it !! But can't find it locally. I ordered it once from Amazon...not paying attention to shipping, etc. What an idiot !!! When you spend twice as much on shipping as you do on the product it's time to stop buying it. What a shame. I'm hoping a local shop will order it for me. It's an excellent litter....no odor, no dust...if you can find it somewhere else, you'll love it.

I was ok with the price increase, figuring it was probably due to higher shipping costs. However, they now also charge for the freight. I just found this litter, but can't afford to buy it anymore. I am really disappointed in Amazon.

This is the best cat litter I've found. Low dust and tracking, no objectionable perfumes. However, I too will stop ordering it from Amazon since shipping costs are higher than cost of product itself!

After trying ever other litter under the sun, this is THE ONE! Most others were "OK", but not great, and the last two I tried were awful. Scoop Away made my apartment a dust bowl. I have to keep my litter box in the kitchen - there's no other place. The dust was unbearable and quite disgusting. Arm & Hammer Essentials (made from corn) had an unpleasant strong odor right out of the bag. Sort of a mix between cleaning products and perfume. Plus it was so light that it stuck to my cat and he tracked it everywhere.

Finally, this litter has none of those issues. It IS heavy which makes it tough getting it home from the store, but that's its only downside. BECAUSE it's heavy, it doesn't cling to my cat and there's not a lot of tracking. (I use the Clever Cat top entry litter box which also helps immensely). I have not had a dust problem either. Someone else said they could pour the whole bag out and not even sneeze. I couldn't believe it, but it's true! NO DUST!

This litter clumps tight, has no odor (I clean the box once a day and have one cat) and is affordable. I highly recommend it! I find it at PetSmart.

Like most other reviewers, PRECIOUS CAT ULTRA PREMIUM CLUMPING CAT LITTER gets five stars from me. After years of using regular, non-clumping clay litter preferred by three older indoor/outdoor cats, I got tired of constantly hauling it from the store for my current brood, three young indoor-only cats. I decided to start trying clumping litters and PRECIOUS CAT ULTRA PREMIUM CLUMPING CAT LITTER was the second brand I tested. I love it, and the cats prefer it, too.

Pros

- No dust!

- HARD clumping. The first clumping litter I tried created fragile clumps that tended to break apart when I shook the scooper to separate the clump from the clean litter. Although I haven't tried it, I think I could play stickball with these clumps. :-)

- The litter is unscented (I hate the perfume-y smell of some clumping litters), but does a great job of controlling odor with my one-scoop-per-day habit.

- Minimal tracking. This was a problem with the first clumping litter I tried. The cats tracked it all over the house. With this litter, the "grains" are heavy enough that they tend not to cling to cat fur.

- The cats love it. I had one box with this litter sitting next to a box with the non-clumping litter for over a month. The cats began using this litter more and more and the non-clumping litter less and less. By the end of the day, the PRECIOUS box would be too full of waste while the non-clumping litter was barely used. Even though I wasn't quite finished with the last bag of non-clumping litter, I got rid of it and put this litter in both boxes. From day one, the cats began to use both boxes equally.

Cons

- For me, the only con is the packaging. A 40-pound bag of this litter is actually smaller than the 25-pound bag of non-clumping litter I used, and it lasts much longer. But it is difficult for me to carry from the store to the car to the house. The slick plastic bag the litter comes packaged in doesn't help. I don't want to pay the high shipping charges for this product, and I can't find the smaller 18-pound unit at the store. It's definitely not a deal-breaker, and in fact, the litter's density is probably responsible for its hard-clumping, non-tracking traits. It's just something to note.

Second time's a charm, and my clumping litter tests are over. I found a clumping litter I can live with!

First off, it is heaven not having to lug cat litter from the store shelf to the grocery cart, from the grocery cart to the check out counter, from the check out counter back into the grocery cart, pushing that heavy cart to the car, lifting the litter bag(s) from the grocery cart into the car, from the car, up a flight of stairs to my second floor apartment into the house. I'm tired just thinking about. FREE DELIVERY to my door! The bonus is that this is a terrific product. I like the way it clumps and my pet likes it too. I recommend it and will continue to buy it from Amazon.

This litter is terrific! It clumps well, and has very low dust, which is very important since we have a Cornish Rex who's nearly hairless so his belly gets VERY grimy with dusty litters.

To the person that said they couldn't tell a difference between this stuff and Tidy Cat - NOT TRUE. We used to use Tidy Cat litter, and it would create a dust storm when you poured it out. Every time our cats dug around in the litter, they'd end up sitting in a cloud of dust. This Precious Cat litter has very little dust!

My only beef is that Amazon jacked up the price on it *AND* they killed the free super-saver shipping. It's now too expensive and I won't be buying it from amazon any more. They had a great thing going until they got greedy.

The litter is great stuff, and we now buy it cheaper at a local pet store.
