Not really metal, but still pretty rockin', April 27, 2007
This review is from: Precious Metal (Audio CD)
I suppose by today's standards, Precious Metal would never be considered a metal band. In the mid 80's though, any kind of power chord rock qualified as long as the band members - male or female - used copious amounts of hairspray.
They may not have been a metal band (see: Girlschool), but Precious Metal was a pretty hard rocking all-girl band along the same lines as Vixen and Lita Ford. The band's 1990 self-titled album was their third (and final) release. The album is exactly what you'd expect from a melodic rock band in 1990 - full of guitar hooks, catchy melodies, keyboards, rock anthems and love songs. The album's most interesting moments are a pair of cover songs - a somewhat cheesy version of the Jean Knight oldie "Mr. Big Stuff" and a very cool take on Bruce Springsteen's "Two Hearts". The album also boasts guest appearances from Cherie Currie (the Runaways) and Nancy Wilson (Heart).
If you're a fan of late 80's pop/rock, especially female acts, you'll definitely want to check out Precious Metal.
