5.0 out of 5 stars What a great product, August 7, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Precise Heat Element Low Pressure, Pressure Cooker (Kitchen)
These pots work great as a low pressure cooker and can be used as regular pots. The 9 qt pot can fit two whole chickens. The smaller pot is great for one pot everyday meals. The extra pressure really infuses the food with more flavor in the same amount of time. I sometimes use the smaller pot to make sauces. When you lift the lid, the flavor and smell of basil in a marinara sauce really comes through.

In general, meats take about half the time using the pressure top. I usually use it to make one pot dishes that get a lot of flavor from the pressure. I also like make a hearty soup that uses barley that cooks up beautifully and quickly using these pots. These heavy duty pans retain heat and also allow for some outstanding searing of meat if you are careful to watch the cooking process carefully. The really great part is that you can remove the lid by just popping the handles at any time while you are cooking. These pots can be used by novice cooks but really experienced cooks can really get a lot of use out of these pots.

The pots are heavy duty stainless steel and clean up with soaking and soap and water. I found just heating water with a few drops of dish soap loosens things very quickly. SOS takes up the reminder easily. You can use the pots for no pressure cooking by using the regular lid that comes with it but I use my non-stick pans when I don't need the pressure lid for two reasons: (1) these pans require more clean up than non-stick and (2) these are heavy, wide pots.

Once you get used to using these pots, you'll wonder how you did without them. The cooking time it saves, and the ease of use and wonderfully rich flavoring that can be infused into food in a short time make this a really worthwhile product at an extremely reasonable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Cooker, October 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Precise Heat Element Low Pressure, Pressure Cooker (Kitchen)
I've been using electric pressure cookers for about 4 years. However, I've been through 4 cookers in that amount of time. The longest one lasted a little over a year. But I've had two models that didn't even last more than a week or so until their electric components failed. I liked pressure cooking because of the flavor infusion and the speed of cooking, but I didn't like having to constantly replace the pressure cookers, at prices that were well over $100. Then I found this set of Low Pressure Cookers.

The low pressure cooker comes up to pressure in about 1/3-1/2 the time of an electric high pressure cooker. And, I'm finding that, in my first tries, the food is cooking in about the same time. Also, there is no time needed to reduce the pressure at the end of cooking. So, the overall cook time is actually reduced.

I made a small pot of chili this evening. After browning onions and peppers and meat, I added the liquid ingredients and it came up to pressure in about two or three minutes. I let it cook for 10 minutes, which is the time I used on my electric high pressure cooker, and then removed it from the heat. Everything was well cooked and the meat was very tender. And, the flavor was infused nicely. I think I actually preferred it to the high pressure cooker chili because it was thicker, not watery like it would come out of the high pressure cooker. It seems like the low pressure cooks and infuses, but doesn't literally squeeze the water out of everything. I was totally amazed. And, my husband even commented that it tasted better. In fact, it had that full flavor that things like soups and stews have after they are cooked, and then reheated the next day. This product is amazing. I'll never go back to electric pressure cooking again.

The only negative is the total lack of any really informative literature with the product. I have been pressure cooking for enough years that I had the basic idea, and will just need to play around with some of my recipes and possibly adjust some times. I had also used a stove-top pressure cooker many years ago, so I was prepared to know how to adjust the temperature once it came up to pressure. If you have a glass top electric range, it will take some trial and error to determine what your "low" cooking setting should be, as there is a lag time between reducing the heat and the heating element response. You might want to play around with a pot of water so that you can test your settings, until you get the hang of it. For instance, I now know that when I reduce my heat setting, I can't go lower than #3 on my burner.

Even a diagram of some sort would have been helpful. So, pay attention to the position of the silicone seal when you remove it to clean it before your first use. I didn't pay attention and ended up putting it in upside down the first time because that looked like it made sense. Actually the side of the seal with the small lip goes against the underside of the top of the lid.

The only manufacturer contact information is by mail, through a post office box. I'd like to purchase an additional seal to have on hand, just in case this mystery company disappears. So, I guess I'll have to write to the post office box and try to get some more information. In this day and age of communication, this set-up seems to be quite archaic. It would have been much easier if, along with the fairly useless sheet of literature, they would have included some parts order information.

These pots are made of surgical stainless steel, and are stamped "waterless cooker" on the bottom. They are extremely high quality. So, at the end of the day, I am thoroughly pleased with these cookers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Low Pressure Cooker, April 16, 2009
This review is from: Precise Heat Element Low Pressure, Pressure Cooker (Kitchen)
I recently bought the two low pressure cookers because I had bought one from HSN and wanted to order another. Guess what I got two for the price of 1 by buying them off of Amazon. This is great to make stews, and soups quickly, and you don't have to wait for the steam to stop to take off the top. You just need to turn down the heat, just wait a minute or two then take the top off to add ingredients or to check on the cooking. It's good when you need to make a lot of something and I can use two pots or just for two with the smaller one.I would highly recommend this item.
